Article said that it was Meola's debut as a field player. This is not so - he did play in the field one game for the Metrostars. I don't remember if it was an MLS league game or a U.S. Open Cup game. After it, he said "I'm no Jorge Campos". Does anyone remember the game, who the opponent was, and what season it was? Please let me hear from you.

From the MLS 2002 Media guide.
"Meola registered 16 minutes at forward on 5/11/97 in a 3-0 loss at Columbus when GK Zach Thornton entered the game as the Metros' fourth substitute."

Maybe he has a deal in his contract that says he gets to play out whenever he lets in three goals.

Or maybe Josh Wolff was hurt and with no substituions left, Meola was pushed up top to give Josh a rest.
