Much prefer to see our young defensive players overseas than our middies or strikers. Build from the back.
From one of SKC's beat writers at the KC Star. Sam McDowell @SamMcDowell11 2h Contrary to continued reports, #SportingKC has not reached a deal to transfer or loan 16-year-old Erik Palmer-Brown to Juventus. Sam McDowell @SamMcDowell11 2h Juventus approached #SportingKC last month about a deal for Erik Palmer-Brown, but no deal was reached. Nothing has changed since.
Call me when he's 20 and getting starts. Until then i think people shouldn't get ahead of themselves and Freddy Adu the kid. Leave him be.
Heineman was asked to comment on the ESPN article, this was his response: Robb HeinemanVerified account @RobbHeineman @BradShapiroKC as straightforward as possible. They r here in Orlando watching him, and we've not agreed to anything. And not motivated 2
Apparently Juventus have twice raised their bid. Tate Steinlage @SteinlageT 7m Juventus has upped their offer for EPB twice now. Vermes says, “We have declined all offers." Tate Steinlage @SteinlageT 3m Vermes on the EPB—Juventus situation: “It’s gone up each time, and it’s just not something we’re willing to entertain."
Yet it seems like our defensive players are the ones that get signed in top leagues and do well right off the bat.
Translated from Tutto Mercato Web: Juventus: Palmer-Brown to arrive in June Juventus continue to move closer to Erik Palmer-Brown, the promising 16-year-old American defender with Sporting Kansas City. The MLS club turned down Marotta's offer of approximately 1 million euros in January. But, according to ESPN, in June they will no longer be able to hang onto the player, who will head to the Bianconeri to reinforce their Primavera team. http://www.tuttomercatoweb.com/serie-a/juventus-a-giugno-arriva-l-americano-palmer-brown-531892
Alot of incorrect information floating around in this situation. There's a mole somewhere misinforming the public. I don't know the reasoning but there was many articles coming from Italy and Juve misstating facts about dollar amounts, that it was transfer was done, that he would stay with KC for a few years then go to Juve, some said he would go immediately, now their saying June to Primavera which even for a top 16 yr old is too high of a level for immediate inclusion. Don't know who's doing it or why but its simple misinformation. Simply put KC doesn't want to sell him but every player has a dollar amount where the seller thinks is overpaying and they have to say yes. Juve wants to get him on the cheap and KC doesn't want to sell him but if an astrinomical amount of mooney comes their way they will sell. Simple economincs.
I also don't understand how he can move at all. He is 16 and I thought there were strict FIFA rules against transfer of kids under 18.
Pretty much. it's been pretty ridiculous to see how the numbers, teams, time of sale keep changing basically every time a new article comes out. The only thing funnier is watching the yanks abroad folks jizz themselves with every new article proclaiming it is done.
I know that MLS is the future of USA soccer so I jizz every time a transfer is NOT done on an outstanding young player. But seriously, how can a 16 year old have a full transfer? I thought that was illegal.
I still don't understand what Juve actually intends to do with this guy even if they get him. It's not like he can even kick a ball in anger over in UEFA territory if I've got my federation laws right.
