I forget the exact quotes but there was an interview with Cannon a couple months back where he said the biggest difference wasn’t necessarily the level of some of those teams but that the pressure to get results immense and on a level that just isn’t comparable in MLS.

It was something along the lines of if you are st the bottom of MLS it sucks but it's just a couple month vacation and you come back next year but in Portugal finishing bottom could change the whole future of a club

Really great news! Like 5 years ago he was playing for Porto's reserve side and has spent years in mid-tier leagues and he gets to take a big step up.

have the rest of you known all along troyes is owned by city football group or whatever its called? i just saw that and was a little bummed, just in terms of it being a parking spot as much as a team actually wanting him.

That would be a much better outcome than "The Yank who Shipped a Thousand Goals".

I can't recall who it was, but an American player in a relegation struggle was interviewed about it. What stood out for him was the pressure, not from the coaches, fans or the media, but e.g. looking at the groundsmen and knowing that one of the four would be laid off with relegation, seeing the catering staff and knowing that a fifth of them would be gone, knowing that two youth players would have their contract offers withdrawn, etc.

You know that their future is in you hands. It's sobering.

well did you see the article posted recently that mentioned a group of clubs from top 5 leagues that are interested in him this wndow??

to me, he is young and on the rise.....I see a bright future.

PLUS loaning in players is not something all clubs want or think is ideal.....bringing in mercenaries has A LOT of drawbacks that playing your own players doesn't. And the current economic climate means that things are a lot tighter for a lot of clubs than normal....so not having a ton of loan interest isnt the definitive fact about this player (and we dont even know if thats true or not)

Not that he would really be harmed if it happened, but Troyes looks a good bet to be relegated. Brings up a good annual poll idea... Over/under on YAs who get relegated with their club in the season?

@bungadiri : can you make this happen?

Ligue 2 can't be all that worse than Austria. So long as he plays well and continues to start, he'll be A-OK

    loan.

Will be interesting to see if players like EPB, Miazga, and Richards continue to be ignored by the national team while playing in France, Spanish and German first divisions this season (assuming all goes well for these 3)
