I've literally waited almost 15 years to completely derail a thread with a slightly interesting and even less relevant tangent. I always figured my day would come. I just never knew it would be today. First, I would like to offer my thoughts on EPB: 1) I first heard of him at NYCFC and the Juventus interest, back in '14. 2) Definitely hasn't lived up to the hype yet. 3) I've been to Vienna twice. That's about it. Having completed the relevant "soccer" component, I would like to digress from my prepared remarks to discuss LouisianaViking07/09's comment. Yes, those 90's caps did indeed never go out of style. This is one of my (numerous) pieces of evidence I present to argue that the 90's were, indeed, the pinnacle of human achievement. Would you like to learn more? Turn to page 14. Would you like to go back and try to find a different utopia? Turn back to page 1 and start again.
Seriously!?!?!?!? Them’s fighting words. Herbie Hancock = musical genius. Kenny G = Spawn of Satan. Big difference. That’s Straight Ahead jazz (pioneered by Miles Davis), not smooth jazz.
I most definitely am. Mostly rock it while lifting though. Blind Guardian's Twilight of the Gods saved my life a long time ago! Then again, my Black card is always under assault as a dude who constantly finds himself in Deutschland for whatever reasons. Sorry for persisting in the thread jack! I'mma need to catch an EPB game soon. Last time I saw him play he had a sub-par match and I lost interest. That all touch video at the 69' minute is indicative of how lackadaisical he can be at times, but he had some decent moments overall. Obviously he's good enough to be wanted and starting for Wien, but I wonder what the next step in his game will consist of?
Biggish club (e.g. Gent, Utrecht) in a bigger league (Jupiler, Eredivisie) would be my bet, based on his current trajectory. At 23 he's an automatic first-choice at one of Austria's better clubs under a 160-game BL1 coach who's won titles (Austrian BL twice, Austrian Cup, BL2) so any doubts about him having the mentality to make it as a pro are (or ought to be) long in the past. However, being in a superclub's loan army puts him in a similar position to Miazga: paid close to Ligue 1 or BL1 wages while you develop into someone worth much more so City/Chelsea get a profitable transfer fee. If you fall short you're priced out of the market outside the Top 5 and the big CL/EL regulars in Holland, Belgium, Portugal, the Old Firm, Copenhagen, etc. and you'll see out your contract on loan at whoever, wherever. There won't be any real upward movement until you're a free agent. If he's to change that trajectory and actually get bought by a BL1 or Ligue 1 side, this has to be the breakout season: owning every CF not playing for Salzburg, fighting those who are to a standstill, making standout contributions to initiating attacks, etc. If he does that, Stoger's recommendations will see cash put on the table. Anything less and his ceiling is a Bosman to BL2 promotion sides or second-tier league EL sides in July 2022.
WHy do you find yourself in Deutschland so often, and is that pic of you or Chandler smoking a cig in your avatar?
For a song that was originally just a project to give Joe Morello an extended solo in an odd time signature, they did pretty well with that one. I admire how easily the whole band stays tight on the 3 + 2 approach to 5/4 time. Damn good band.
IDK he seems to finally be coming good. Of course, he has to keep playing well....but isn't he basically doing what you're describing in the "good scenario" already??
