PSV Women breaks the hegemony of FC Twente and Ajax with first national title in club history The women of PSV have become national champions for the first time in history. Due to the home win at De Herdgang against ADO Den Haag (2-0), the Eindhoven team can no longer be caught up with one round of play to go.

 

PSV has 51 points after 21 matches in the Eurojackpot Women's Eredivisie. Number 2 Ajax follows with 47 points. FC Twente is third with 46 points.

PSV is the successor of FC Twente as national champion, who has won the championship five times in the last seven years. In 2020, the competition was not finished due to the corona pandemic.
In 2023, the title went to Ajax. It is the first time since 2012 that a club other than FC Twente or Ajax becomes champion.
Back then, it was ADO and only seven clubs participated in the competition.

In 2020, PSV was well in the lead when the competition was discontinued because of covid. The Eindhoven club had a seven-point lead on Ajax after twelve matches.

FC Utrecht scales back budget women's branch, players protest with shirts
FC Utrecht will invest less money in women's football after this season. Players of the number six of the premier league came onto the field tonight in protest with printed shirts. "We don't fit into the budget" it said. FC Utrecht will say goodbye to no less than nine players after this season. The contracts of Marthe Munsterman, Tami Groenendijk, Elisha Kruize, Soraya Verhoeve, Maxime Snellenberg, Gera op den Kelder, Lena Mahieu, Joni Paliama and Merel Bormans were not extended.

According to the players, this is the result of financial choices.
"Due to a lack of support from the club and a minimal budget, many of us are not allowed to continue building," Munsterman wrote on Instagram.
Verhoeve called it "painful that such an issue still occurs in women's football" on the same social medium. During the match against Hera, the departing Snellenberg received a guard of honour and applause from her fellow players when she was substituted.

Cuts and relocation
Manager of the women's branch of FC Utrecht Marlou Peeters confirmed to the Algemeen Dagblad that cuts are coming. "We are indeed taking a step back, otherwise we are not viable." Utrecht's women's team played home games this season at Sportpark Zoudenbalch and in De Galgenwaard. From after the summer, the team will move to the complex of amateur club VV De Meern.

Itamura is the first Feyenoord player to be voted Player of the Year in the Women's Eredivisie.
The nineteen-year-old attacker from Japan is the successor of PSV player Jansen, who will retire after this season.
Sisca Folkertsma, Liz Rijsbergen (both PSV), Danique Noordman (Ajax) and Jill Roord (FC Twente) were the other nominees.
This award was first presented in the 2021/2022 season. Then FC Twente player Fenna Kalma was the first winner and prolonged her title a year later. Belgian Tessa Wullaert, who played for Fortuna Sittard at the time, won the award in 2023/2024.

PSV Women convincingly won the last edition of the Eredivisie Cup on Friday.
The national champion was too strong for Ajax in the final at their own Herdgang, 3-0.
PSV had put FC Twente aside in the semi-finals on Monday, while Ajax won The Classic against Feyenoord. On Friday, the national champion took an early lead against the number two: Chimera Ripa took care of the 1-0 within fifteen minutes. Fenna Kalma made it 2-0 shortly after halftime. The striker surprised Ajax keeper Danae van der Vliet from a long distance. Sisca Folkertsma also made it 3-0, so PSV ends the season with two main prizes. The team of departing head coach Roeland ten Berge also played for the Supercup and the KNVB Cup this season, but both finals were lost against FC Twente.
Ten Berge is not the only one who says goodbye to PSV. The Eindhoven team celebrated their goals passionately with bench player Renate Jansen, who has now ended her career. PSV will go down in the history books as the last winner of the Eredivisie Cup. The tournament was first organized in 2019 and quickly grew into a mini-tournament at the end of the season. PSV also won last year. FC Twente is the record holder with four final victories.

Feyenoord Women has strengthened itself with Avani Brandt. The 22-year-old American defender comes over from the Danish HB Køge and has signed a contract in De Kuip that runs until mid-2028. Brandt is considered a versatile defender and can be used in all positions in the backline. After 4 seasons at Stanford University, where she became a fixture and experienced several national successes, she made the switch to Europe in the summer of 2025. At HB Køge she immediately had a successful 1st season, in which she managed to conquer both the Danish national championship and the nat cup.
The American is looking forward to her new challenge in Rotterdam. "From the first conversations, I immediately felt a lot of confidence from the club. Feyenoord is an ambitious club with wonderful facilities and a clear vision of the development of women's football. I can't wait to put on the shirt and make my contribution to the team."
