Feyenoord Women sign young goalkeeper: "Can't wait"

    upload_2024-7-4_15-28-47.png
Feyenoord Women has signed Roos van Eijk. The Dutch goalkeeper comes over from AC Milan, where she mainly played in the youth in recent seasons. At De Kuip, the 18-year-old Van Eijk has signed a contract until mid-2025, with an option for another year. The young goalkeeper previously played for VV Alkmaar and made the move to AC Milan in the summer of 2022. After two years, Van Eijk returns to the Netherlands. "After two wonderful years at AC Milan, I am happy to be able to continue my career at Feyenoord," she said of her transfer. "I will take the experiences I gained in Italy with me to Rotterdam and I can't wait to start at this beautiful club," said Van Eijk on the club website. Manon Melis, coordinator of women's football, is pleased with the arrival of the Dutch youth international: "It is great that we have been able to add a young talented goalkeeper to the selection.
With the experienced Jacintha Weimar and the also talented Oliwia Szymczak already in-house, the goalkeeper roster is now complete after the arrival of Roos."

Romee Leuchter leaves Ajax for PSG. Not really a surprise to see her leave. Dutch teams cannot pay as much as the bigger teams in Europe. I'm sure a couple of others will leave as well.

Ajax sell Chastity Grant to Aston Villa. No transfer fee was mentioned but Alex Kroes said it was a record transfer fee for a lady player from Ajax.

Such a shame, those transfers, as you want them to compete in the CL.

Can't help it. This is life for clubs in small countries. Ajax still have to get through the screwy play in system which is a four team group single knock out. They did it last year and the year before almost went through but Miedema had the lone goal for Arsenal that KOed them.

    21/12
The PSV Women managed a solid victory by beating Feyenoord 1-4 in De Kuip. At halftime, it was already 0-3 for the Eindhoven team thanks to goals from Melanie Bross, Riola Xhemaili and Chimera Ripa. The latter also put the 0-4 on the scoreboard early in the second half, after which Feyenoord did something back fifteen minutes before time via a goal by Jada Conijnenberg. With PSV's victory, the team will almost certainly end the year 2024 as the leader in the Azerion Women's Eredivisie. The Ajax Women can get back on level terms tomorrow if they win the home game against Excelsior Women, but the Amsterdam team has a much worse goal difference.

    15/12
In a true spectacle, Feyenoord won 3-5 at Excelsior in the Women's Eredivisie on Sunday. Remarkably, the first goal only fell after 42 minutes, via Esmee de Graaf on behalf of the visitors. Feyenoord is on twenty points, only five less than PSV and Ajax, who occupy the first two places. With four points, Excelsior carries the red lantern.

    15/12
Ajax has come back to the same level as PSV in the Women's Eredivisie. The Eindhoven team won on Saturday, Ajax triumphed a day later with 1-4 at SC Heerenveen. The title contender from Amsterdam was scared by an early goal by Evi Maatman, but via Nadine Noordman, Quinty Sabajo and Danique Tolhoek (twice), it was still a win for Ajax. In the middle of the league, Telstar and ADO Den Haag played a 1-1 draw against each other. Both Ajax and PSV have collected 25 points after 10 matches. FC Utrecht is three points behind, FC Twente has two loss points less.

    14/12
In the Women's Eredivisie, PSV did not make a mistake against mid-table Fortuna Sittard on Saturday. Thanks to hits from Joëlle Smits (two) and Lore Jacobs (one), the leader triumphed 3-0. FC Twente is still at the top after the 2-1 victory over PEC Zwolle, but high-flyer FC Utrecht squandered expensive points against AZ: 1-1.

Most goals in the Eredivisie, 14 points more than last year, but Feyenoord can't win in the Kuip The most goals in the Eredivisie, more points than last season at the start of the winter break. Feyenoord Women can look back on many things with satisfaction. Only winning in De Kuip is not yet possible. For the third time, they lost. Jessica Torny's team had no answer at all to PSV's pressure: 1-4.

  8. NOS Football• Today, 16:31 Women Feyenoord narrowly beat AZ, open gap of nine points with Alkmaar team
The women of Feyenoord have won 0-1 on a visit to AZ. With the win, the Rotterdammers are equal in points with number four FC Twente, who have played two games less. The gap to the number one and two in the rankings, PSV and Ajax respectively, is now five points. Those teams played one game less than Feyenoord. The gap to number six AZ has increased to nine points.
AZ on the ball a lot In the first half of the game, AZ was more on the ball. However, the Alkmaar team did not get many chances. The fact that AZ did little with the field dominance caused headaches after the break. Right winger Esmee de Graaf rounded off a Feyenoord attack and put her team ahead. In the last half hour, AZ went on the hunt for the 1-1. Coach Wouter de Vogel's team was regularly dangerous, but the equalizer was not in the cards.

The women Eredivisie title race became a PSV vs Ajax matter too.
    However, after the defeat:
    upload_2025-3-22_23-55-53.png
the Ajax coach made a remarkable statement.
    upload_2025-3-22_23-57-24.png
This is the situation atm. Just 1 point behind.
On Saturday in the Philips Stadium, Ajax only had the best of the game for a small phase, but in the end, the match was lost by a large margin. PSV therefore went over Ajax in the rankings, but the differences are still minimal.
'Here we lose it definitively', De Reus is harsh in an interview with ESPN. 'I think it's reality.'
So she throws the towel already:eek:

  10. De Reus was critical, especially after the first half. 'This is a top match and then you have to play at your best, but in the first half we had too many players who were not good enough.' Captain Sherida Spitse shares her coach's opinion. 'It can't be that you play such a first half. That has everything to do with: how do you enter a match? It's all in your head.' Spitse, record international of the Orange Lionesses, criticizes the attitude of some teammates. 'I'm almost 35 and I'm lugging and dragging, and you're a lot younger. Then I really think: come on, dude.' Ajax will play against ADO Den Haag, FC Twente, Telstar and Excelsior this season, but the title is no longer in their own hands. The Amsterdam team also squandered points last week, away against FC Utrecht (1-1).

PSV eliminates Feyenoord and plays cup final against FC Twente.

PSV Women will play the cup final against FC Twente. The Eindhoven team won the semi-final against Feyenoord on Tuesday evening, thanks to goals from Renate Jansen, Fenna Kalma and Shanique Dessing. On Saturday, Twente already won 1-5 against the amateurs of Saestum. The final between Twente and PSV will be played on May 10 at Het Kasteel.

At Ajax, Jade van Henselbergen (18) and Isa Kardinaal (20) have extended their contracts. The duo will remain with the Amsterdam club until 2029 and 2027 respectively.

    15/04
Jaimy Ravensbergen (24) will stay at FC Twente for a while. The top scorer of the Eredivisie has extended her contract with De Tukkers. The striker has signed until mid-2027. This season, Ravensbergen was good for eighteen goals in the league. She has been playing for the club from Enschede since 2023, although she did not make her debut until 2024 due to a knee injury. A day earlier, there was also good news in Twente. Inge Tijink also signed a contract until 2027 and will be a player of Twente again from next season. The 25-year-old goalkeeper returns to the club she exchanged for PEC Zwolle in 2023.

I just wasted 90 minutes watching the Twente - Ajax match. Twente are a well organized side and easily won 5-1. I still fail to understand why Suzanne Bakker was let go as trainer last season. She got them into the Champions League and into the KO round. de Reus is sacked after one season not able to figure out how to put the pieces together. Technical Director Daphne Koster ought to resign as she has no clue either. Looks like Ajax will finish third and out of the CL competition. The bold move will be to move Spitse up to manager!

Women FC Twente prolong national title on exciting final day

FC Twente prolonged the national title in the Women's Eredivisie on Saturday afternoon. On the exciting final day, PSV was on course for a long time to create a sensation, but in the end Twente still grabbed the title through a late goal by Jaimy Ravensbergen.
The differences in the Azerion Women's Eredivisie were even smaller than in the men's league prior to the last round of play.
Twente and PSV had the same number of points after 21 matches, the ladies from Enschede had the advantage thanks to a better goal difference (+5). However, that turned out to be worth little when AZ scored twice in the first nine minutes. First, Karlijn Woons headed in, then Desiree van Lunteren escaped the defense.
The tension only increased further in Enschede. In the last fifteen league matches, Twente only squandered two points, but now that the pressure was at its highest, it threatened to go wrong. Hopes were pinned on goalgetter Ravensbergen. Initially, the club's top scorer missed a dot of a chance, but just before halftime she shot diagonally. And in the 59th minute, with a bit of luck, she also signed for the equalizer.

    PSV
Given the score in Eindhoven, that was still not enough for the national title, because PSV took the lead against Feyenoord after ten minutes through Shanique Dessing. The Rotterdam visitors quickly did something back through Mao Itamura, but just before halftime, Dessing helped the home team take the lead again. PSV was therefore virtually in the lead again, but keeper Nicky Evrard had to thank after the break that Feyenoord did not come alongside. It could have gone either way in the final stages. In Enschede, AZ substitute Romaissa Boukakar hit the crossbar via keeper Daniëlle de Jong, so that the 2-3 did not come. Shortly afterwards, Feyenoord goalkeeper Jacintha Weimar kept PSV from taking a bigger lead with the help of the aluminum on an attempt by Sisca Folkertsma. Shortly afterwards, the chances turned completely again, when PSV defender Emma Frijns shot the ball into her own goal in her own way (2-2).

    Hat-trick

The atmosphere in Enschede changed completely in a positive way at that moment and only got better when Ravensbergen completed her hat-trick seven minutes before time from a penalty, which was awarded for hands by Jasmijn van Uden. Twente was therefore suddenly back on course for the title and this time did not give up the championship, PSV's 3-2 did not change that. With that, the tenth national title is a fact.

  15. Well, if this is the "horse d'oeuvre" for this sunday, we're in for a spectacular ending of the season.:)

Feyenoord will continue with coach Jessica Torny, who has extended her expiring contract until mid-2027.
She has been active in Rotterdam since the beginning of 2023, when she took over from Sandra van Tol. For Torny it is her first job as a head coach in professional football, this season Feyenoord is fifth.

  17. News from Heerenveen, where Bernice Thurkow and Iris Teijema have decided to quit professional football. They played 8 and 52 matches respectively in the Eredivisie Women. In addition to these two, six more players are leaving SC Heerenveen: Marit Speek, Sanne van der Velde, Chantal Schouwstra, Dewi Snippe, Ilse van Rheenen and Demi Werther.

Ajax is bringing in an experienced midfielder with Nurija van Schoonhoven. She comes over from FC Utrecht and signs in Amsterdam until mid-2028. Van Schoonhoven (27), born in Russia, played more than a hundred matches in the Women's Eredivisie. She is also a youth international of the Netherlands, she played with the Netherlands Under-19 at two European Championships and with the Orange Under-20 at the World Cup.

Wow, the ladies, together with the KNVB Cup, have atracted a very wealthy sponsor, the Eurojackpot organizers.
The KNVB cup tournament and the Women's Eredivisie will have a different name for the next five seasons.
A new main sponsor has been recruited, which was announced on Tuesday: Eurojackpot.
