For some time now, actually I think since the beginning of the season, the criticism on the preformance of refs in the Eredivisie was loud. We see with an unwanted regularity ratings of ref performance far below acceptable. It's time to keep a close eye on it and see if the KNVB does anything to up the level of refereeing.
In my opinion a 6 is the bottom line for an acceptable performance for a referee. So this week's score is twice a very bad 4.5, one 5, twice a 5.5 score, so only 4 out of the 9 referees managed to stay above the bottom line with three times a 6.5 and only one with a 7 rating.
247 Fokking Makkelie has been instrumental in the victory of PSV by giving Read a red card. The KNVB has turned back the decision of Makkelie and this means he had a major impact on Ajax's chances on the title. Feyenoorder Read acquitted after red card in top match against PSV!
Makkelie in the Eredivisie is not performing well, too many sub par refereeing. Just this weekend he again was the talking point in the decisive top match of Feyenoord vs PSV. View attachment 295409 Feyenoorder Givairo Read acquitted after red card in the final phase of the top match against PSV Givairo Read will not be suspended for his red card in the top match against PSV. The right back was sent off in the final phase by referee Danny Makkelie because he would have brought down an opponent who had broken through. However, the card is now being sponged. That wasnot his only issue in this match: https://www.fcupdate.nl/voetbalnieu...jn-laars-bij-feyenoord-psv-en-spaart-noa-lang Makkelie blatantly ignores the rules of the game at Feyenoord - PSV Danny Makkelie has made an incomprehensible decision in the 26th minute of the match between Feyenoord and PSV. The referee measured PSV's Noa Lang ostentatiously. In the 26th minute of the match, PSV was allowed to take a corner kick when trailing 2-0. A shot by Mauro Júnior was smothered in Feyenoord's penalty kick area, after which Feyenoord was able to counter. Ayase Ueda immediately had an eye for a teammate in the depths, but Lang clearly deliberately stuck out his arm and took out the counter for Feyenoord. A yellow card for Lang seemed to be the only appropriate punishment for Lang, given what is stipulated in the KNVB rules, but Makkelie ignored the rules of the game and spared the PSV player ostentatiously. In fact, the referee punished Feyenoord goalkeeper Timon Wellenreuther with a yellow card for protesting. A few minutes before this happened he shouldhave given PSV Ldezma a second yellow card for bringing down a player and thus smothering a promising attack. That would have PSV play an hour with 10 men. In the end Feyenoord lost in the dying seconds of the match with an unjustified one man down situation, where it should have been PSV with a man down. Makkelie is going downhill.
Wasn’t sure were to post this, but I saw a video that has Noa Lang’s Father Refereeing a Youth match when a guy comes on the pitch to confront Lang’s Dad, and then sucker punches him knocking him out briefly. Just awful stuff with several of the young kids playing leaving the pitch in tears. Lang’s Dad was ok, and apparently did not file any charges against his assailant who apologized for his behavior. I wonder if this is the end of the matter as I’m guessing Dutch police will have questions about this incident.
286 I think the police/public prosecutor can launch an investigation and charge someone without a formal complaint. This stinks like public violence and disturbance of public order. Edit: thank god it has nothing to do with Noa himself, but it could explain his insane behaviour in de Kuip.
Lang was indeed fired up on Sunday. He was more than happy to take the abuse as well, and De Kuip was more than willing to give him the business. He was tremendous in the match, which was amongst the best that I’ve seen this year in the Eredivisie.
For the referee ratings of the two last matchdays see the league match rating thread, as I put there the all the ratings of those matchdays, not just of the top 6.
376 Not that surprising Gözübüyük trumps Makkelie as VI's Referee of the Year Makkelie has finished at the top of the standings in recent years, based on assessments handed out by the reporters of Voetbal International. Before that, the now retired Björn Kuipers won the classification three times in a row. Now Gözübüyük is the winner. He stayed ahead of Makkelie, who is internationally known as the best referee in the Netherlands, with an average of 6.42. The lead over the rest of the refereeing corps, which has been under fire several times this season for controversial decisions, is large. Bas Nijhuis is best of the rest with an average of 6.14. Dennis Higler and Sander van der Eijk close the rows with 5.53 and 5.62 respectively. They are the only two referees who scored an average of less than a six in the past Eredivisie season. Only referees with at least half the number of duels (17) are eligible for a place in the ranking
New referee boss in town He was once at the cradle of the VAR, now Raymond van Meenen (50) has been the successor of Dick van Egmond as manager of referee affairs at the KNVB for a month. Back in Zeist, after a long period at Feyenoord, big challenges await him. After nine and a half years at Feyenoord, you are back at the KNVB as referee boss. How do you look back on the past period? 'I have fulfilled a management role for the first time. That was an opportunity to develop myself. I learned a lot from that. From football content to financial and personnel policy. The last few years I have seen the development of women's football. Good to see that being a man or a woman is secondary. We can extend that to the referee.' Seems he wants female refs on the pitches.
