Eredivisie 2025-2026 season Ratings and comments

  1. Feyenoord has also won their fourth game of the season. In De Kuip, they bossed sc Heerenveen with 1-0. Feyenoord was mainly dependent on the whims of Hadj Moussa. After a wonderful dribble, he shot straight at Klaverboer, who was preferred to Noppert and had a fine Eredivisie debut. Not every action by Hadj Moussa succeeded, but just before halftime, after a nice heel kick by Read, he finished in a controlled manner. After halftime, the spotlights were more focused on the refereeing. A clumsy tackle by Hadj Moussa was punished with a red card and then Hensgens, who changed pants in between, gave an unclear Petrov's second yellow card.

I'm getting a wary feeling about our teams going into the coefficient battle next week
Edit: and FC Utrecht didnot have to deal with the current Eredivisie topscorer Willumsson.

  4. Striking statistics at PSV against NEC: negative unicum under Bosz.
PSV triumphed on Saturday in a spectacle against NEC, but it did not go well with the reigning champion. This is also evident from a number of statistics after the goal-rich duel in De Goffert.
After a defeat and a draw on a visit to NEC in the previous two seasons (3-1 and 3-3), PSV managed to win again in Nijmegen, but the home team again proved to be a very tough opponent. Coach Dick Schreuder's formation scored three times for the third time in a row in a home game against PSV. For PSV, it was the first time since the home game against Feyenoord (4-3) on September 1, 2022 that they won a league game after conceding three goals.
NEC came back from a 1-4 deficit to 3-4 and had a great chance to make it 4-5, but Tjaronn Chery missed a penalty. The home team eventually recorded more shots on goal than PSV. For the second time in the Eredivisie season, a PSV opponent shot on goal more often than Bosz's team. That was also the case in the away game against FC Twente. In the 2023/24 and 2024/25 seasons combined, PSV only twice suffered from an opponent taking more shots on goal.
Also looking at the percentage of passes arrived and ball possession, it was not convincing on the part of PSV. The guests saw only 71.7 percent of the passes arrive. That is the lowest percentage at PSV under Bosz in an Eredivisie match. The Eindhoven team also had 'only' 43.3 percent possession in Nijmegen. Since Bosz's arrival, PSV only had less possession in a league match against Feyenoord (40.3%) in December 2023.

A bit of an Angstgegner the last seasons.
Feyenoord can do on Wednesday what it has only done twice before this century: win the first five games of the season in the Eredivisie.
Then in De Kuip they have to deal with Fortuna Sittard, the club that has managed to hold up so well in Rotterdam in recent years.
    upload_2025-9-16_14-57-6.png

In the 21st century, Feyenoord won at least the first five games of the season twice. That happened in the 2005/06 season and in the 2016/17 championship year with six and nine starting victories in a row respectively. Feyenoord's won matches from that time can be found in the table below.
    upload_2025-9-16_15-0-7.png
The victory will have to be achieved against Fortuna Sittard, the club that has appeared as a pest in De Kuip in the last three years. Last season, the duel - in which Santiago Gimenez scored with a bicycle kick - ended in 1-1. In 2023 and 2022, the clubs also left the battlefield with one point: it was 0-0 and 1-1 respectively. Should Fortuna manage to remain unbeaten in De Kuip again, it may join a list of clubs outside the traditional top three. AZ managed between 2008 and 2011 not to lose four matches in Rotterdam and SC Heerenveen managed the same between 2014 and 2017.

Well, no time for PSV to linger on this dud CL result.
The next high end confrontation unfolds in a couple of days:
Coming Sunday, September 21st, 14:30 cest!
They can't afford a 3d defeat in a row at home.

This Sunday the Eredivisie top 4 in a direct confrontation:

The 4 clubs (not so far) behind the Top Four are only 2 points behind Ajax.

It's the first away match for Feyenoord and not an easy one too with AZ.
It's going to be the battle of the in my opinion two best midfields of the Eredivisie.

Both PSV and Ajax are licking their CL wounds.
Where Feyenoord has a cushion of 3 points vs PSV, the other 3 can't really afford points losses in this round.

Ajax invested heavily this summer to give the selection a creative boost. In the first top match of the season, however, the most appealing signings were on the substitute bench and it remains to be seen whether they will play against PSV on Sunday. About coach John Heitinga's hard choices.

    Raúl Moro
For more than six months, Ajax was after Raúl Moro. Even when another left winger had already been brought in with Oliver Edvardsen and both flanks were double occupied again, the club judged that the arrival of the Spaniard was necessary. Ajax saw Moro as a pure quality boost in the front line and dug relatively deep into their pockets to bring him in as the first summer acquisition. Exactly two months ago, on July 19, Moro made his debut as a left winger in the friendly match against KV Mechelen. Heitinga left him in that spot for the entire pre-season, also because Mika Godts was still a little behind in terms of fitness, the coach later explained. During that friendly campaign, Moro showed his qualities at times: the 22-year-old attacker brings depth and excels in the one-on-one duels.

  10. If Robin van Persie has to choose between the series Goliath and a PSV match in the Champions League, then the coach of Feyenoord has doubts, he said last week.:ROFLMAO:
For AZ striker Mexx Meerdink, the former international stays at home.
"Meerdink is a really good striker, who scores goals in different ways," says Van Persie. "It's a player I stay home for. It's fun to watch him play. I hope he takes it easy on Sunday."
"What he masters that I didn't have in my game? Yes, he also makes bicyclekicks and I never made those. He was positive about me and I felt quite flattered. That such a good player thinks like that."

    Van Persie misses players
Van Persie is missing in Alkmaar, in addition to the long-term injured Thomas Beelen and Gernot Trauner, also the trio In-Beom Hwang, Jakub Moder and Jordan Lotomba. "But we have 88 percent of our players available for Sunday against AZ.

Our first test, I read here and there. I see it as the sixth game of the season."

'Lack of length costs AZ at corners'
AZ, after Sparta and NEC, has the smallest selection in the Eredivisie. This may be related to the high number of goals conceded from corners this season.

Painful evening for FC Utrecht: Mohamed Ihattaren shoots Fortuna to victory Eredivisie
FC Utrecht has lost the away game against Fortuna Sittard with 1-0. That meant the second league defeat in a row and a bad dress rehearsal for Thursday, when the Europa League Olympique Lyon awaits.

  13. An interesting weekend is unfolding.

We now have FC Groningen wiggling itself into the top of the league.
AZ could take the top spot if they win against Feyenoord and win the catch up match:

Suppose a Feyenoord draw or win at AZ, and a draw in Eindhoven and a NEC win against Heerenveen, you get a tight bunch of 5 clubs with 12/13 points.

PSV - Ajax is delayed because of supporters setting off flares inside the stadium. Why does the Dutch FA not take a hard stand against this??
