PSV to suffer a more epic collapse than Ajax.

  3. Let's face it...PSV had a record run of uninterrupted away game wins, but how many of those were in fact "stolen" wins because of forwards of the opponent not scoring their 100% goal chances, like that Taha dude last week. If he had done at least 1 of those one on one, PSV wouldnot recover from a 2-0 score and Feyenoord would be 11 points behind instead of 14, with 11 matches to go.

Sometimes luck is a more important factor.

Given Fryday's PSV result this could become an interesting weekend.
Wouldnot be the first weekend all top of the table stumbled over molehills

FC Twente coach John van den Brom: 'I didn't expect that we could be as bad as in the first half'
FC Twente has not been able to follow up on the victory over Heerenveen. The weakly playing team did not get further than 1-1 at Telstar. The Tukkers didn't deserve more. Marko Pjaca scored the equalizer in the final minutes.

  12. Coming weekend matches with head to head collisions of close competitors and the question if PSV continues slipping and thus giving SC Heerenveen a chance to, depending on the match result of FC Twente - FC Groningen, close in to Twente or put Groningen further away:

For Feyenoord a draw between Ajax and NEC would be the best outcome.

    Ajax - NEC related news:

Ajax has received Carrizo's work permit for the important match.
Maher Carrizo could possibly make his Ajax debut in the clash with NEC. The Argentinian has received his work permit, which allows him to train in Amsterdam and play minutes in the Eredivisie.

Problems in the front line are increasing for PSV: Guus Til also out of circulation for the time being

PSV with luck out of the last 2 matches gained 3 points. This could become an issue, because PSV will have to do without Guus Til in the coming weeks. The 28-year-old striker and attacking midfielder is on the sidelines due to an injury he sustained in training. Til came into action last weekend the entire match against FC Volendam, but that has been the last time for the time being. On the other hand, there is the imminent return of Ricardo Pepi. The American striker is expected to rejoin the match selection in February. He broke his forearm against Excelsior at the beginning of January. In the PSV infirmary, in addition to Til, there are also Ruben van Bommel, Alassane Pléa, Matej Kovar and Nick Olij, although Kovar is expected back soon. Against FC Volendam, Anass Salah-Eddine and Noah Fernandez were also missing due to minor injuries. Ismael Saibari was given the day off, but will be back on Saturday against SC Heerenveen. The fact that PSV will have to do without Til in the coming weeks is a loss. In 22 Eredivisie matches, the counter now stands at twelve goals and three assists.

Disappointment for Ajax: end of season for goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros due to serious knee injury Ajax will have to do without goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros for the rest of the season. The Czech goalkeeper suffered a serious knee injury during Friday's training and needs surgery. Against NEC, he will be replaced by Maarten Paes.

21' 0-1... Ai, ai, ai... It goes completely wrong for PSV. Joey Veerman just hands the ball in, the ball comes via Ringo Meerveld to Heerenveen striker Lasse Nordås. He does it from close range with a half kick, at the second post: 0-1.

Weird, SC Heerenveen has more shots on target AND more blocked than PSV.

Edit: the PSV shots missing the target are about the same as the Heerenveen threatening shots.

  22. The choices in the line-up of SC Heerenveen were made on Saturday for coach Robin Veldman. The coach welcomed Hristiyan Petrov and Jacob Trenskow back into the starting line-up. That was at the expense of Maxence Rivera and Vasilios Zagaritis, who arrived too late. In the victory over PEC Zwolle a week earlier, the French winger and the Greek back were still on the line-up sheet, but they were missing on Saturday.
Too late, the explanation turned out. And so the duo victimized themselves.
'Unfortunately, yes', Veldman was disappointed beforehand at ESPN. 'You make a plan with them in the starting line-up all week, you go through all the solutions with them... But we have rules. I think I have to be consistent for everyone. At the beginning of the season we had this with Dylan Vente. Now I have to be consistent with him and with our culture.'
He has not yet talked about the incident with Rivera and Zagaritis. 'The focus now is on guys who are going to play. They did come to me with apologies and accept the consequences. We were in a hotel. I can shout there, but now it's about the guys who play. I stood there full of incomprehension too.'
