I'm not sure if the league will be able to start again this weekend.
Winter weather circumstances arenot improving and the country is simply flat on it's ass because of continuously, uhm ...continually snow fall.

  2. Police authorities now call thugs what I called them already in the ArenA fireworks suspension, a criminal organization, after events in Amsterdam with those same things used by the gang members in that ArenA photo:

Put them away for years for attempts of murder against police officers, firefighters and ambulance personel.

Much to my surprise the second half of the competition kicked off, despite yellow alert for weather conditions.

Poor AZ starts the new year with a difficult home win over low-flyer Volendam
AZ has won the first Eredivisie match of 2026. In the freezing cold of Alkmaar, coach Maarten Martens' team won with a meagre 1-0 against FC Volendam.
AZ will be happy with finally three points again, but was more than mediocre in football. It was the first win for coach Maarten Martens' team since the beginning of November.

  4. FC Twente has started the second half of the season disappointingly.
At home, a defeat against PEC Zwolle was avoided in the final stages. The first match of 2026 ended in 1-1 for the Tukkers.

  5. PSV has no problems with Excelsior and starts the second half of the season gloriously, although Pepi's dropping out is a big scratch.
PSV did at home what it had to do against Excelsior: win. At home, Paul Wanner, Ricardo Pepi, Yarek Gasiorowski and Ryan Flamingo quickly made the difference. Dennis Man made it 5-1 halfway through the second half. Although afterwards there are mainly concerns about Pepi's injury.

Bizarre scene. Pepi seemed to trip himself when he tapped in to the empty net… broke his arm as he fumbled to the ground. Needed a surgery and now he’s out for at least two months… whoa :eek:

Sigh,....NEC sold supersub Shiogay for the in his contract embedded minimum transferfee of 10 million €€.
He was a goal guarantee, when subbed in, 7 times this season.
Gonna hit the ambition of Schreuders and NEC after the winterbreak.

  9. Erratic Ajax gives up a large margin and suffers a loss of points at home against Go Ahead
Eredivisie After the cup humiliation against AZ, Ajax has suffered a very expensive and unnecessary loss of points in the battle for place 2 in the Eredivisie. Against Go Ahead Eagles, a comfortable lead and good first half was wasted: 2-2.

Coach Fred Grim intervened in a few places after the historic cup defeat. Young players Aaron Bouwman and Rayane Bounida were preferred to Josip Sutalo and Oscar Gloukh, two of the most expensive signings in recent years. Anton Gaaei took advantage of Owen Wijndal's suspension.
The changes seemed to do Grim's team good. The interim coach saw his team play fresh and dynamic, sometimes combining smoothly in the opponent's half and then countering sharply. Before halftime, Davy Klaassen (dry shot) and Kasper Dolberg (alert during scrimmage) struck (2-0). But Ajax once again collapsed after the break. Just like Qarabag, NEC and AZ, Go Ahead was able to strike early in the second half. Thibo Baeten rounded off a nice combination of the cup winner, who did qualify for the quarterfinals on Wednesday.
And just like against Telstar last week, Ajax conceded a second goal against Go Ahead. Shortly after Dolberg had failed to let the completely detached Lucas Rosa score the 3-1 goal, Jakob Breum served Milan Smit with a subtle bouncer. The finish with a hard volley was even better than the assist: 2-2. Ajax suffered unnecessary and very expensive damage in the battle for 2nd place, which entitles them to a lucrative Champions League ticket at the end of the season.

NEC gained two points to number three Ajax on Saturday evening. The Nijmegen team gave away a lead twice against NAC Breda, but struck in the absolute final phase of the spectacle.

One of the great pleasures of watching and following the Eredivisie is that any team can beat any other team (other than PSV this season). Teams drop points under the weirdest circumstances!!!

Maarten Mertens fired... the second manager from the Eredivisie so-called Big 4 who got sacked this season (after Heitinga). I guess winning 6-0 v. Ajax isn't quite impressive these days :D

Hmm... Robin van Persie next? That would be quite a storyline. 3 out of 4. Whoa.

I've been calling for Martins to be fired for months now! The only club he seems to have a hex on is Ajax and that is just not enough. With the talent on that team they should be doing much better. It will be interesting to see who takes over long term.
