Weghorst ranting against the ref for cancelling his goal. Makkelie initially decided to continue playing football after the moment between Rosa and Zekiel. "You see the referee pointing to the ball. He points to the ball!", says an angry Weghorst, who then takes a few seconds to calm down. "This is just a goal and a crucial moment in the match." Makkelie was called to the screen by the VAR and reversed his decision to let the goal stand. Weghorst wanted an explanation about that at halftime. "He comes to me at halftime: 'Yes, the VAR calls me'. I only felt insecurity. I also said: 'You're the referee, aren't you?' I have to say that I think it's of a very questionable level." Dude, the footage shows possesion of the ball leading to your goal was because of a foul the ref missed. Are you going to refuse a penalty if the ref points at the ball, after you have been fouled and then reverse his decision after VAR intervention? STFU.
PSV gives AZ a beating in Alkmaar PSV has won at AZ for the fifth season in a row. The team was lord and master and won 5-1. PSV overwhelmed AZ from kick-off. The visitors put on full pressure, were precise in passing and quickly took a 1-0 lead after a blunder by Owusu-Oduro. Til found the net not much later after a nice attack and for the third edition in a row, PSV led 2-0 in Alkmaar early on. After Til had scored again after a nice action, PSV became sloppier. Mijnans did something back with a mop shot and Patati missed a great opportunity. AZ started well after the break, but Veerman punished a mistake by Boogaard. PSV took a step back, although Til still headed in his third.
Observations on this completely unnecesary loss against GAE. With a top 10 most stupid penalty give away by Sauer (Man, bin Ich sauer auf dich) after 13 minutes GAE was given the cushion to sit on. They could clutter the last third of their pitch half to stifle Feyenoord attacks. The second reason we hardly could break through the wall was the presence of Larin. Dunno what Robin van Persie had in mind, but it failed major league. Larin was as static as a pole rammed into the pitch. He was useless as an attacking element (ruined two header chances too), useless as a midfielder and didnot contribute to the defense either. If I was to rate his performance, it would be a 3 out of 10. I know we have player fitness and injury issues atm, but keeping Larin on the pitch longer than 25/30 minutes is unacceptable. Robin for this match gets rated a 3 too by me. Edit: the one who stood out was Wellenreuther. If he didnot safe the day a few times in one on one with an attacker, we could take a shower long before the end of the match.
Are PSV and Feyenoord that apart from the rest of the Eredivisie? I can't fathom the difference in goal for/against result.
6269 PSV today got help from blunders. The first was in their own match, in which the AZ goalie gifted them the first, important goal, and then in the evening by Sauer, giving away a penalty. Sometimes the devil keeps shitting on the same heap.
Wow, PSV had a hard time in Breda against NAC, going by the number of shots and the xG of NAC and those of PSV. Eredivisie leader PSV has won on a visit to NAC Breda with a lot of effort. Peter Bosz's team escaped getting behind several times before Guus Til scored the only goal of the match: 0-1. It was a bad game from PSV, but it was good for a win. PSV looked anything but awake and almost asked for a punishment after the break, but keeper Matej Kovár saved his teammates several times. He made a great save before halftime, on an attempt by Charles-Andreas Brym. After the break, he was also alert twice for Bosz and the rest of PSV, who were lucky that NAC couldn't bite the bullet. PSV was perhaps with their mind at the Champions League duel with Liverpool. The team looked nothing like the express train that raced through the AFAS Stadium earlier this month and dealt with AZ there. PSV only had the first chance after half an hour and eventually managed to open the score through Til, but then the production stalled at the front. Ivan Perisic had a decent chance and after the break the substitutes Ricardo Pepi and Couhaib Driouech, but they were unable to find the net. NAC kept faith, but in the end could not stunt and had to leave the points to PSV.
6831 Excelsior hero on second goal against Ajax: 'You have to unwrap presents, it's almost Sinterklaas' A year and a half ago, Excelsior was already so close to a historic victory in the Johan Cruijff Arena, but it still went wrong just before time. Saturday evening it ended well (1-2). Noah Naujoks crowned himself the big man with two goals.
Well, this could have been one of those perfect weekend of upsets, but NAC refused to score their chances and let PSV have their lucky escape.
