More than 50,000 fans did not recognize the team that had a nice series against direct competitors before the international break in the Johan Cruijff Arena. They immediately saw Ajax give away four serious chances. Dylan Vente messed up two, after which Remko Pasveer prevented an opening goal by Dylan Mbayo with a great save. Ajax keeper Remko Pasveer thinks it says a lot that he was voted Man of the Match against PEC Zwolle. The goalie was not entirely satisfied after the win.
8497 FC Utrecht can take the top position in the Eredivisie: will club still join the football top? Many fans will sometimes have to pinch themselves, but it could really be that FC Utrecht takes over the top position in the Eredivisie next week. Okay, then the tough matches against PSV and Ajax have to be won, but Utrecht has rarely been closer to the Dutch football top than now. I think Ron Jans has taken a good look at how Sjachtar frustrated PSV and that socalled remontada only took place at the end of the playtime against 10 men.
8603 Will Ron Jans make the competition for the other pursuing teams interesting again? FC UTRECHT - PSV - - Referee: Makkelie This match is in its 55th edition. PSV won 25 times, Utrecht 10 times. The last two years, this duel was balanced. Utrecht last won at home (3-0) five seasons ago. Utrecht (2nd) won 10 times, including 9 times with only one goal difference and is five points behind PSV, who have already scored 45 goals this season. Viergever (Utr) played 71 times for PSV in the Eredivisie. PSV's Flamingo played at FC Utrecht last season.
Only watched the second half… a very comfortable win by PSV (winning streak extended to five games now). Utrecht’s defense was so porous. PSV played with fire, and had speed for the counters. In the end they scored five, and had three(!!) other times finding the back of the net but disallowed. Also… PSV’s depth is just ridiculous. Bringing Pepi (league’s top scorer and match-winner in the UCL), Lozano (Eredivisie veteran) and Veerman (Oranje International) off the bench felt like using a cheating code Great to see Veerman back after injury. I believe Schouten is not too far away from returning. Bosz has such a luxury with his midfield. His starting midfielders today, both Saibari and Til scored twice and assisted once
8716 I think the 7 rating of Hadj Moussa is stupid. To me his performance was just 6, due to his wrong decisions at least 2, maybe 3 times to take a shot at the goal, instead of passing to Redmond and later in the match to Santi standing uncovered in front of the goal.
That number of shots by NEC is quite ridiculous. That's a sieve instaed of a defense. Unfortunately those NEC guys creating them did prove wastefull against PSV too.
AD Sportwereld TOTW Ranking sofar for Player of the Season: Spelersklassement 1. Olivier Boscagli (PSV) 6,93 (14) 2. Dávid Hancko (Feyenoord) 6,82 (14) 3. Malik Tillman (PSV) 6,75 (13) 4. Brian De Keersmaecker (Heracles) 6,69 (13) 5. Walter Benítez (PSV) 6,61 (14) 6. Luuk de Jong (PSV) 6,60 (10) 7. Ryan Flamingo (PSV) 6,57 (14) 8. Quinten Timber (Feyenoord) 6,54 (12) 9. Mike van der Hoorn (FC Utrecht) 6,50 (11) 10. Thomas Didillon-Hödl (Willem II) 6,46 (14)
Ajax can achieve something against Utrecht that has only been achieved twice this century. If Ajax wins against FC Utrecht on Wednesday, coach Francesco Farioli's team will achieve something that has not been possible since the 2019/20 season: winning the first seven home games in the Eredivisie.

8910 Jans is looking forward to Ajax: 'Those are two things that Farioli has realized' Ron Jans has looked ahead to the top match against Ajax. The coach of FC Utrecht sees the visit to the Johan Cruijff Arena as an ideal opportunity to polish away the sour aftertaste of the defeat against PSV (2-5). Although he is wary. 'Ajax has a real team,' Jans told FC Utrecht's club channels. The coach sees that the Amsterdam team has gone through a transition. 'They play with a lot of energy. Those are really things for which Francesco Farioli deserves a compliment. After such a difficult year, he really got that in as a coach.' 'We fight for each other', Jans sees a difference with last season's Ajax. 'They have a lot of willingness and put a lot of pressure. I think they are very good. They have shown that, against Feyenoord and PSV for example. But on the other hand, there were also many other matches.' Jans is referring to Ajax's duels with PEC Zwolle and NEC, which were won with difficulty. 'There, the opponents had more right to win than Ajax. Only then did they have an outstanding Remko Pasveer in goal every time.' 'Every match is different', Jans knows the laws of football. He compares PSV with the Amsterdam team, which he will visit on Wednesday. 'I think PSV has even more opportunities to score, but if Ajax is very good, we have to defend sharply. Lesson one. We conceded four goals against PSV from attacking midfielders, which are now Kenneth Taylor and Davy Klaassen, we can't afford that anymore.'
The deficit of number 2 Ajax on leader PSV is now six points, while FC Utrecht remains on the rope for second place with only one point less. Coach Ron Jans had expressed the wish beforehand that his team would also live up to the current top ranking in a confrontation with a traditional top 3 club. Where FC Utrecht had not succeeded against Feyenoord and PSV to make it a real match, they did against Ajax. FC Utrecht took the lead in the Johan Cruijff ArenA and offered excellent resistance in several phases of the match. Jans is looking for the best way to fill in the striker position and has made a lot of changes in recent months. Min, Descotte and Noah Ohio all have specific qualities, but none of them have been very productive yet. Descotte scored his first goal of the season last Sunday against PSV from the penalty spot, while Ohio's counter is three.
Ajax had six new names in the starting line-up compared to the away match against NEC. This time there were starting places for Anton Gaaei, Youri Baas, Kian Fitz-Jim, Jordan Henderson, Chuba Akpom and Bertrand Traoré. Wout Weghorst had remained standing after his leading role against NEC, with the striker scoring both Ajax goals. Brian Brobbey did return to the match selection, but started on the bench. Yet Ajax should have lost again, just like against NEC. So Ajax has a really big problem, whatever players the coach puts on the pitch, and in the last 4 matches that were alot of different ones, it doesnot make a difference in quality of play. This winter break the scouting department really should get creative with adding quality without spending much.
