More than 50,000 fans did not recognize the team that had a nice series against direct competitors before the international break in the Johan Cruijff Arena. They immediately saw Ajax give away four serious chances. Dylan Vente messed up two, after which Remko Pasveer prevented an opening goal by Dylan Mbayo with a great save.
Ajax keeper Remko Pasveer thinks it says a lot that he was voted Man of the Match against PEC Zwolle. The goalie was not entirely satisfied after the win.

FC Utrecht can take the top position in the Eredivisie: will club still join the football top?
Many fans will sometimes have to pinch themselves, but it could really be that FC Utrecht takes over the top position in the Eredivisie next week. Okay, then the tough matches against PSV and Ajax have to be won, but Utrecht has rarely been closer to the Dutch football top than now.
I think Ron Jans has taken a good look at how Sjachtar frustrated PSV and that socalled remontada only took place at the end of the playtime against 10 men.

I think the 7 rating of Hadj Moussa is stupid. To me his performance was just 6, due to his wrong decisions at least 2, maybe 3 times to take a shot at the goal, instead of passing to Redmond and later in the match to Santi standing uncovered in front of the goal.

That number of shots by NEC is quite ridiculous. That's a sieve instaed of a defense. Unfortunately those NEC guys creating them did prove wastefull against PSV too.

Ajax can achieve something against Utrecht that has only been achieved twice this century.
If Ajax wins against FC Utrecht on Wednesday, coach Francesco Farioli's team will achieve something that has not been possible since the 2019/20 season: winning the first seven home games in the Eredivisie.

Jans is looking forward to Ajax: 'Those are two things that Farioli has realized'
Ron Jans has looked ahead to the top match against Ajax. The coach of FC Utrecht sees the visit to the Johan Cruijff Arena as an ideal opportunity to polish away the sour aftertaste of the defeat against PSV (2-5). Although he is wary.
'Ajax has a real team,' Jans told FC Utrecht's club channels. The coach sees that the Amsterdam team has gone through a transition. 'They play with a lot of energy. Yet Ajax should have lost again, just like against NEC. So Ajax has a really big problem, whatever players the coach puts on the pitch, and in the last 4 matches that were alot of different ones, it doesnot make a difference in quality of play.
This winter break the scouting department really should get creative with adding quality without spending much.
