Utrecht finish 4th as Twente cannot catch them. So it looks like Go Ahead Eagles (Cup Winner) and Utrecht go into the qualifying rounds for the Europa League. How many teams do we get in the Conference League? Is it two? Twente and AZ both have too many points and qualify for the Dutch playoff round but there are a bunch of other teams that make it too close to call. Even Sparta with their late push might make it. there are going to be some interesting matches coming up.

Well, I'm only 1 point off in my prediction, but the build up of the points wasnot quite what was expected.

There are no easy games for Ajax. Even when they were winning, the games were not easy. We'll see what happens. Sparta may be tough for PSV as they are still possible for a Euro playoff spot. Amazing what Steijn has done with the team. He might have been good at Ajax has Mislintat not totally bolloxed up the transfer window.

  6. Going by how Heracles performs the last few matches, I expect PSV to win, so if Ajax manages to lose, it comes down to the last match anyway.

More often than not the Eredivisie title comes down to the last match day. I still remember the final match day in 2016. Ajax ahead of PSV on goal differential and even on points. Ajax away to De Graafschap who were 2nd from bottom in the table. It turned out to be de Boer's final match as manager and the club could not manage to win the game and finished 2nd in the league. This was the most epic failure that I've ever seen for this club. I permanently soured on Klaassen that day.

  8. Yeah, fans of all the top 4 clubs have that experience:ROFLMAO:.
The most epic one that day that AZ, PSV and Ajax on the last matchday could grab the title and about every ten minutes another one was virtually the champion.
Wonder how many fans that day had dangerous bloodpressure levels.:p
Luckily Feyenoord escaped that faith when we a few years ago managed to be beaten 3-0 against an already relegated Excelsior in the but one last match. All of a sudden we couldnot afford even a draw in the final match of the season, as iirc Ajax would have taken the title on goal difference.
Thanks to a Kuijt hattrick against Heracles we were saved, but boy oh boy was that a close call too.

So yeah, it often comes down to the last matchday.

Ajax can prepare for a hot match in the Euroborg against FC Groningen on Wednesday. According to goalkeeper Etienne Vaessen, the team will be motivated to the bone.
