1240 https://www.voetbalprimeur.nl/nieuw...-na-duel-met-psv-om-johan-cruijff-schaal.html Feyenoord on report: many high marks, one standout, two failing grades Today at 20:15 Timon Wellenreuther - 7: Not Justin Bijlow, but Wellenreuther is Feyenoord's first goalkeeper for the time being. His baptism of fire was tumultuous with no less than four goals conceded in ninety minutes. But the German had the last laugh: one great save in the penalty shootout was enough. Lutsharel Geertruida - 7: what will Feyenoord do without Geertruida? He is crucial for his team and the Rotterdam club management will have to do everything they can to keep him at De Kuip for another year, despite his contract expiring. Thomas Beelen - 7: He faced Romelu Lukaku last season, but De Jong was also a formidable opponent. In any case, Beelen remained upright and the way in which he did so deserves the compliments. Dávid Hancko - 6.5: not Atlético Madrid, but Feyenoord is still his employer and so Hancko continues to do what he has to do. Against PSV, there was little sign of any disappointment about his failed top transfer. Bart Nieuwkoop - 6.5: defensively, he sometimes seems to have no idea where to run, but as a disguised right winger, Nieuwkoop gets a good pass. The wingback with the gigantic running ability just keeps going and rewarded himself with the 1-2. Marcos López - 5: In the run-up to PSV's early opening goal, López protested so vehemently that he released his direct opponent Bakayoko. It wasn't the smartest move, shall we say. Ramiz Zerrouki - 5: his place in the starting line-up will not be immediately threatened, but Zerrouki did not make a good turn in the battle for the Johan Cruyff Shield. His report card shows a negative leading role in the first goal conceded, clumsy yellow card and 'fatigue injury'. Gjivai Zekiel - 7: If this is the harbinger of his season, Zekiel will be an absolute revelation at Feyenoord. The twenty-year-old midfielder played as if he already has thousands of kilometers at the highest level in his legs. Calvin Stengs - 5.5: It wasn't Stengs' game, which only came into the picture a lot in the early stages. The stamp of a footballer who excels especially against smaller opponents sticks to him. Santiago Gimenez - 8: After a difficult six months, Gimenez looked reborn in the Philips Stadium. He scored two penalties flawlessly, while the razor-sharp Mexican also produced an assist. Igor Paixão - 6.5: on the stroke of half-time, Paixão could, no, should have made the 1-3, but he found Benítez on his way one meter from the goal line. Still, the Brazilian gets a good pass for his performance.
PSV on report: Lang is a bright spot, one of the four unsatisfactory for Bosz Walter Benitez - 6.5: In the season opener, Benítez probably made the save of the season. He masterfully kept Igor Paixão from scoring. To the four (!) He couldn't do a lot of Feyenoord goals. Jordan Teze - 5: In what could easily be his last game for PSV, it was absolutely impossible to make the interested AS Monaco even more interested. The fact that his charge on the ball and Santiago Gimenez, who had broken through, was not punished either. Jerdy Schouten - 6: After a great European Championship, it took some getting used to for Schouten, who became a father for the first time during his short holiday. The real sharpness was missing from the reluctant defender. Ryan Flamingo - 5: On his official debut for PSV, his strengths and weaknesses immediately came to the surface. He played daringly, looked for the solution forward and was close to it, but was fooled by the 1-2 and 2-3 of Feyenoord. Fredrik Oppegard - 5: It is clear that PSV have to look for a new left back, as long as Sergiño Dest is not available. Oppegard started well, but dropped far away and caused a penalty. The Norwegian showed that he does not (yet) have the level. Joey Veerman - 6: With his assist in the 2-2 of PSV, he gave a glimpse of the absolute trendsetter he was last year, but otherwise Veerman played a bit pale in a more withdrawn role in midfield. Ismael Saibari - 5.5: he is a completely different number 8 than Veerman, everyone knows that. With his depth, Saibari can create a lot of danger, with the emphasis on can. Because on Sunday night, that barely worked. Malik Tillman - 6: Defensively, he did his job to perfection, but Tillman isn't necessarily on the field for that. The American didn't do enough, although he did come out of the dressing room well after tea with an assist on De Jong. Johan Bakayoko - 6: He had the first chance of the game and provided the assist for Lang's early opening goal. After that, little was heard from Bakayoko. Normally, he is more dominant. Luuk de Jong - 6.5: By scoring twice in the second half, De Jong is now the all-time top scorer in the Johan Cruyff Shield. And that while he didn't have an easy afternoon at all against the physically strong Feyenoord defenders. Noa Lang - 7: PSV's most dangerous man and Rotterdam's most hated man broke the spell with a flawless effort, only to be feted in front of the away section. Lang was a bright spot and showed he's back. Trainer Peter Bosz - 5: PSV know where they stand, after a crazy showdown with Feyenoord. PSV did not have the defensive organization in order at all and that offers food for thought for the coach.
Really disappointing and didnt understand that line up from Bosz. Is this what he wants to take and compete in CL. Injuroes aside and surprisingly a rookie LB . Is dest at Olympics. Typical dutch coaches, they think everything is ok until it strikes them. Credit to the feyenoord new non dutch coach. Shows bosz how it shud be done. Comes in,sees makes changes and delivers it. Will be same old boring eredivisie and vacation in CL
As I mentioned both teams players arenot fully match fit at all, so precaution has to be taken how much load you put on the playes. You can't risk players falling out for the first league matches, especially for PSV, with a number of lock in first team players recovering from injury. Last season PSV couldnot afford one match to relax, as Feyenoord after the first two matches with a draw kept on going and matched PSV's relentless run for points. So given that it surely is a given you at all costs try to avoid points losses in the opening matches of the season, cause you might end up in a catch up race like last season.
It's a shame though looking at both squads, neither have good chances to go far in CL. Lang shud look for a bigger club and also be a starter in NT
Not looking good after today’s defensive display that is for sure. PSV had Veerman at the 6 it appeared as Schouten was moved to CB to partner Flamingo who showed very little positional sense while LB Oppergard was completely out of his depth. Veerman has no defensive ability and the middle of the park for Feyenoord was open for business often. Feyenoord meanwhile are not comfortable in Priske’s preferred 3-4-3, but like Feyenoordsoccerfan said a big factor is likely the lack of fitness and coordination of the players. Lang if he can stay healthy will be drawing lots of attention from the Big money Leagues and Teams. Based on his 60 minutes today I’m sure Koeman and Oranje will like what they saw from him today, but it’s all about staying fit, and playing consistently strong.

With the return of clubs with sizeable stadiums and the departure of those with mini ones the Eredivisie is heading to a fan record. Spectator record looms in the Eredivisie due to return of crowd pullers With the return of FC Groningen, NAC and Willem II, the Eredivisie will once again have three undisputed crowd pullers. What does this mean for its value and image? The country's most important football league is approaching the 'ideal' premier league from a commercial point of view. "PSV would rather play in a full Euroborg than away against Almere City."
1625 Ajax seeks rehabilitation on Sunday at 4:45 p.m. after a disaster season in the Eredivisie. Heerenveen, with Robin van Persie as a debutant on the bench at Heerenveen, is in the Johan Cruijff Arena, the first opponent of the season. Ajax-Heerenveen and Heerenveen-AjaxHead-to-head matches Ajax went down 3-2 at sc Heerenveen on February 11, 2024, ending a run of 29 Eredivisie matches without defeat against the Frisians. Ajax's unbeaten streak of 29 Eredivisie matches against Heerenveen had started after the 2008/2009 season, when they lost both home and away (5-2 and 0-1). Ajax coach Marco van Basten was called a 'pancake' by a fan after the defeat in the ArenA. The only goal on 31 January 2009 was a free kick by Danijel Pranjic (59\'). Since then, Ajax have not lost any of their last 15 home games against the Frisians in the Eredivisie (W13-G2-V0). Ajax have scored 4 or 5 goals in their last 10 home games against Heerenveen in the league: 4-5-5-4-4-4-5-5-5-4. This series features a 4-4 draw (2018/2019). Ajax has never scored as many goals against any club in the Eredivisie in the Johan Cruijff ArenA as they did against sc Heerenveen (93 in 28 meetings). Only in 1999/2000 did Ajax and Heerenveen meet in their first Eredivisie game of the season. It was 3-2 for Ajax, which would finish with a 5th place below Heerenveen (2nd). Ajax finished last season, 35 points behind champion PSV in 5th place, the lowest final ranking for the club since 1999/2000 (5th). Only in the 1958/1959 season (63) did Ajax concede as many goals in an Eredivisie season as in 2023/2024 (61). Ajax took the 3 points in only 9 of their 17 home matches last season (W9-G6-V2), including against Heerenveen on November 5, 2023 (4-1). Ajax started 33 of its 68 previous Eredivisie campaigns with a home game. In only 1 of those 33 cases did Ajax start with a defeat (W29-G3-V1): 0-1 in the derby against DWS in 1958/1959. Ajax has started with a win in each of the last 4 Eredivisie seasons, after a 2-2 draw at Vitesse in matchday 1 of the 2019/2020 season. The last defeat in matchday 1 dates back to 2017/2018: 2-1 at Heracles Almelo. Remko Pasveer Remko Pasveer is 40 years and 277 days old on Ajax's firstday of the competition. The oldest player ever to play minutes for Ajax in the Eredivisie was goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg: 39 years and 231 days at home against sc Heerenveen on May 11, 2022. Several of his teammates had not yet been born when Pasveer made his Eredivisie debut for FC Twente on 28 March 2004, including Jorrel Hato, Mika Godts and Julian Rijkhoff. Brian Brobbey Brian Brobbey finished last Eredivisie season as Ajax's top scorer and most valuable player. With 18 goals and 8 assists, Brobbey had a direct share in 26 of the 74 league goals of the Amsterdam team (35%). Brobbey has scored 49 goals for Ajax in all competitions (except for the game against Panathinaikos on August 8). Since the start of the Eredivisie in 1956, 36 players have reached the 50-official goal mark for Ajax, including Johnny Rep (50 goals), Wim Bleijenberg (51) and Patrick Kluivert (52). Francesco Farioli 2nd Italian coach in the Eredivisie Francesco Farioli is the 2nd Italian coach in the Eredivisie. Massimo Morales was on the bench for De Graafschap in September 1999 for a total of 4 Eredivisie matches after the departure of Frans Thijssen (W0-G1-V3). Farioli won his first 3 official matches as coach of Ajax, at home (1-0) and away (1-3) against FK Vojvodina in the preliminary round of the Europa League and Thursday against Panathinaikos (0-1). The last head coach (excluding interims) to start his term in Amsterdam with 3 and 4 consecutive victories was Frank de Boer in December 2010. Steven Bergwijn is suspended against Heerenveen sc Heerenveen sc Heerenveen lost exactly half of their 34 Eredivisie matches last season (W10-G7-V17), resulting in an 11th place finish. Only in debut season 1990/1991 (19) and in 2009/2010 (19) did the Frisians lose so often in an Eredivisie season. Heerenveen finished last Eredivisie season with only 1 win from the last 10 rounds (W1-G3-V6), a 0-2 win at Heracles on April 14. Only Almere City (6) and FC Volendam (6) have collected as few points from their last 10 league games as Heerenveen (6). Heerenveen has been unbeaten for 9 seasons in its first Eredivisie game of the season (W6-G3-V0), after a 1-2 defeat against FC Dordrecht in 2014/2015. Heerenveen has been waiting for an away win at Ajax, Feyenoord or PSV (W0-G8-V17) in the Eredivisie for 25 matches. The negative streak started after a 1-2 win at Feyenoord in January 2016. With the departure of Pelle van Amersfoort (10 goals) and Osame Sabraoui (8 goals, 5 assists), Heerenveen lost both its top scorer and most valuable player of last Eredivisie season last summer. Robin van Persie Robin van Persie is about to make his official debut as head coach, 5 years and 91 days after his last official match as a player: the Eredivisie match between Feyenoord and ADO on 12 May 2019 (0-2). Van Persie scored his last of a total of 50 international goals in the Johan Cruijff ArenA: in a European Championship qualifying match against the Czech Republic on 13 October 2015 (2-3 defeat). Van Persie also scored an own goal in that game. At club level, Van Persie did not win a single game he played in the Johan Cruijff ArenA (W0-G3-V2, all competitions).
1639 The Eredivisie starts with a striking number of foreign coaches. For example, Ajax and Feyenoord both have a non-Dutch coach for the first time since the 1981/82 season: Italian Francesco Farioli and Dane Brian Priske. The Belgian trio Carl Hoefkens (NAC), Maarten Martens (AZ) and Peter Maes (Willem II) even brings the total to five foreign coaches. That's the highest number at the start of the league since 1998/99. Then there were no fewer than seven: Morten Olsen (Ajax), Fritz Korbach (De Graafschap), Hans Meyer (FC Twente), Jimmy Calderwood (NEC), Herbert Neumann (NAC), Bobby Robson (PSV) and Artur Jorge (Vitesse). In the prehistory of the Eredivisie, these international influences yielded great success. Austrian and English coaches won seven of the first nine titles. This century, however, the yield is disappointing. In the last 22 seasons, only one foreign coach managed to win the Eredivisie. Farioli, Martens and Priske will hope to follow in the footsteps of Englishman Steve McClaren, who triumphed with FC Twente in 2010.
