  1. Ajax counts on recovered Mika Godts against AZ, coach Francesco Farioli: 'I hope to see a bit of sharpness again' Mika Godts may make his comeback at Ajax on Sunday during the away game against AZ. The left winger seems to have recovered from a hamstring injury that he sustained last month during an away game against FC Twente.
Coach Francesco Farioli does not yet know whether Devyne Rensch will be available again. "It's a bit more complicated with him", says the coach from Italy on his club's website. "If he can participate in the last training session on Saturday, he will be available on Sunday. Otherwise, we'll look at the next game."
Farioli is impressed by AZ. "It's a team with qualities and with a good organization", he says. "We are going to prepare as well as possible. I hope to see a bit of sharpness again that I have missed a bit in recent matches. With a good freshness in the head, we have to make sure that we regain control on the field."

Unbeaten series of AZ against Ajax means nothing to coach Maarten Martens: 'They show a lot of stability' While Ajax coach Francesco Farioli called his team less fresh after the match against FC Utrecht, Maarten Maartens has an almost fit selection at his disposal. And that is necessary, the AZ coach knows.
"The time of many injuries seems to be over for us. Almost everyone is available," says Martens. "Only Ibrahim Sadiq is still a question mark and on Friday evening we will test Rome Owusu-Oduro against FC Volendam with Jong AZ. Bruno Martins Indi is back and so is Kristijan Belic. We also had a tough time with many games and many injuries. This week we were able to train a lot again. The freshness is there, we can accelerate. It's energetic during the training sessions." AZ hopes to finally win a game against a club from the left row on Sunday, which has not yet been possible this season. Ajax is an opponent that the Alkmaar team can work with. Of the last eleven matches against the Amsterdam team, AZ won seven. Currently, AZ is six matches unbeaten against the provincial rival from 50 kilometers away.
"The question is exactly which Ajax AZ should prepare for. Farioli likes to rotate. Martens focuses on the opponent's style of play. "It's recognizable and it doesn't matter who plays then. They show a lot of stability, that's for sure." FC Utrecht and Feyenoord Martens would sign for AZ to come out like in the matches against Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray in the Europa League. Although those clubs cannot be compared to Eredivisie players. "And in those games, we have to admit. We also played well against, for example, FC Utrecht and Feyenoord. But there was a lack of reading matches at crucial moments," said Martens. "We lacked decisiveness. Otherwise, we could have gotten a result against those clubs."

That match was a blank shot and that ref was a crying shame.

  3. From what I've seen sofar my guess is neither FC Utrecht nor Ajax can stay in the top 3.

  4. Eredivisie players with the highest number of minutes on the pitch.

  5. Boy, in the CL thread I wrote I see PSV buckle in the new year. I stopped short of telling van Persie was going to cause them problems, because that would sound like wishfull thinking instead of solid insight. Yet here we are. I started to get the feeling of PSV going to turn for the worse after reading comments in papers the last few weeks by PSV players, that gave me the feeling they don't have the right perception of their Eredivisie performance. Especially Lang gave me that feeling.

    Teak repped this.
  6. Positive news about Ihattaren:thumbsup:
Ihattaren had a starting place in the Eredivisie on Saturday. The last time the creative appeared at kick-off was almost four years ago. The Utrechter immediately completed the ninety minutes.
Moreover, he ran the most meters of all players on the field: 11.7 kilometers.
He too was startled by that afterwards in front of the camera of ESPN.
"I'm amazed myself," he stammered. 'That's quite a lot, isn't it? I know about myself, I'm not a marathon runner. But for my sake I gave everything. I'm happy with those statistics and with some nice actions. But the three points are more important and it's a pity that they don't go to Waalwijk.'

Coach of the Week: Robin van Persie!

  10. Well, the referees were a focal point:
It was also not a good weekend for the referee. Go Ahead was furious about the red card that Sander van der Eijk gave to Enric Llansana. Van der Eijk gets a 4 for his performance. Martin van den Kerkhof did not do much better with a 4.5 at NEC – Sparta (1-1) and Edwin van de Graaf received a 5 because of his decisions at NAC – AZ (1-2), about which there was also a lot of dissatisfaction.

I also heard that Van der Eijk gave a lot of extra time at the end of the match when Utrecht equalized.

Team of the week selections were funny. Taylor played on the left wing for most of the game and dropped back to holding MF when Henderson was subbed off. He DID NOT play at 8 which is his normal position.
