Kinda like how Ole insinuated how are still in preseason mode when it comes to training. If nothing else we will be fit this year.
3-0? Against Wolves? We're looking at scraping a 1 goal win, maybe 2 goals if their attack is still running cold and a huge defensive error costs them a goal. I wouldn't be surprised if we lose this one, and I'm optimistic about our season. I wouldn't panic if we do, this is one of the hardest matches out of the way early doors. It always seemed off when someone here talked about Wolves winning the midfield battle against us as if that was damning, when they regularly hold their own against the top sides.
Not sure that front four will be able to unlock wolves, but at least this confirms Tuanzebe as third choice CB. I would have liked to see Gomes on the bench.
Good move bringing in James. Jesse was useless at RW last game. Hopefully he presses better playing in the middle and can improve our transition.
Dalot I haven't heard anything about. Fred I know missed some of preseason which could be the reason. Ole might not think he's fit enough.
With James inclusion from the start, I think Ole’s game plan is to let wolves see most of the ball and hit them on the counter. We’ll see if it works.
So far the same issue with the midfield as against Chelsea. Teams are letting our back line have the ball and even when they pressure our 3 CMs are standing still so we have to keep recycling.
AWB can be world class. He's a lot better on the ball than some are giving him credit for and he's just a monster in defense.
I wish someone would put in a physical, but fair tackle when the opportunity arises. There's been 3 times our players appear to have been fouled, and no call. If thats the case, fight fire with fire. Stop being so soft!
For better or for worse, this game is going as expected so far. Wolves are not a team to take the initiative, even at home. We were always going to have more of the possession, which is not our forte with the personnel on hand. Wolves are pretty well organized defensively, and breaking them down will not be easy. Like James, but I really feel he's best suited to an impact sub role, as we saw last weekend vs Chelsea. Would have kept AP: more of a creator, which we clearly need. We'll done from Rash for Martial, who was unfortunate not to get at the end of that cross.
It's so frustrating watching AP and now Jesse play in a position that's so important to this formation and style of play and fail so badly at it. I know it's beating a dead horse, but Bruno in that role would have improved this team so much. Jesse and AP are not taking advantage of the space being given and are content hiding.
