Just a note (albeit it a bit tardy) that we will be gathering tonight at 7:00 p.m. CST at Cuatro's to watch Stoke City take on Blackburn. This will not only be the first match since Big Sam took over for Ince at Blackburn, but it will also be the match that has "Blackburn" from BigSoccer at it. If you haven't already, you have to check out the video of him in London. You can get it either in the Fulham string of the forums or by visiting www.chanticosarmy.com, as I've posted the videos there as well.

    So a quick live report:

I saw the game from the Blackburn End Lower, which was behind the Blackburn goal to start the match. Stoke pushed us hard early on, but our defense held, and then we took the wind out of their sails with the PK from McCarthy.

After that things settled down a bit, though Stoke did dominate possession. We had some good attacking back, and Roberts scored on a nice rebound. We picked up a 3rd for insurance from McCarthy in the 26th, and that was all she wrote.

BB settled down in the second half and played, I thought, much better ball. I think Stoke were a bit demoralized hitting a relegation team and getting down 3-0 in the first half. To be fair, BB had a number of good chances in the second, but some nice saves and McCarthy's hit on the crossbar made it end at 3-0.

It's a good result for my lads, not so much for Stoke. I've maintained BB have more quality than their record suggests, and this certainly makes me hope for the future, but Stoke HAS to win games against the teams in the drop zone if they want to stay up. Their next 4 fixtures are Man U, West Ham, Liverpool, and Chelsea, and (West Ham possibly aside), those are hard fixtures. Coupled with West Ham's league position, it's a must win game for the Potters.

To be fair, Pulis and his lads played with a lot of intensity. They may have just run into a bear trap in Blackburn because of Sam's arrival and the emotion at that match. But they're going to have to step it up and get at least 4 points out of the next 4 if they want to breathe easy at the end of the transfer window.

I chop it up to you, somehow, bringing them good luck by doing your little fishslap with your blackburn jersey on. Maybe next season, at the Aztex matches, we can start a tradition of Chase fishslapping someone in the army, while wearing an Aztex kit of course, to bring the team good luck. :D

It's 6 bucks a pound. If anyone wants to chip in for the 80 bucks, I'll gladly hit Alejo before the Revs game.

Now I'm really pissed that I won't be able to go to the game.

...but shouldn't we save this tradition for a league match?

I guess this very important issue should be high on the agenda for our Army meeting.

We can always try to use another, cheaper fish, though only Salmon are going to get up around the 15 pound range. Drum are cheaper at about 3.50/pound, and get up to about 8. I'm sure we can get Catfish too, though we'd have to clip the fins and whiskers prior to the hit, which might get a little bloody. We should probably also discuss donating it to a local food bank afterwards so as not to waste food.

And we can certainly wait until the first league game.

Maybe we could do something for charity? Donate 5 bucks to the food pantry, get to hit Alejo?

u know what. If it's for charity, I say the army buys the fish and then whoever puts in the biggest donation to the food pantry/other charitable organization gets ta hit me.
