We said that last season. This could turn out to be our version of the scousers "This is our year" tripe
I feel like Ole burnt out the players. Or at least, his training methods were more rigorous than they were used to with Mourinho and they never got accustomed. Even during he win streak, you can tell that they were tiring out towards the end of matches, then the middle of the match, and then after 20 minutes. Hopefully he knows or learns what the ******** he wants to do and we can see results after a full preseason. Unfortunately, this preseason has a long travel schedule. They should just preseason in Europe for once. Maybe have one or two money grab exhibitions but do the gist of the training close to home. But that ain't going to happen.
When was the last time the team didn't travel to Asia, South Africa, or the US for preseason? I honestly have no idea. Seems like there is always some money grabbing tour planned these days.
They have like the rest of May and June off. Plenty of time to recuperate and get to fitness standards.
WHAT YOU DON'T NORMALLY SEE ON TV - McTominay after the draw vs Huddersfield.FULL CLIP: https://t.co/sLditpHXiK@Higginbotham05 @Adamcarruthers pic.twitter.com/d01A4zTWss— Stadium Astro 🇲🇾 (@stadiumastro) May 6, 2019
McTominay has consistently showed in his displays (particularly in the 2nd half of the season) that he's one of the few players who actually seems to genuinely care. From that point of view alone, the narrative about him being distraught following yesterday's result does hold some weight.
That was a good year. We chased down arsenal for the title. We lost blanc and Beckham but got Rio instead.
What I remember the most from that year from a United perspective is how we messed up not reaching the CL final that season, when we got eliminated by Bayer Leverkusen. They had some good players on that team, like Ballack, Lucio or Schneider (Berbatov was a part of it too btw), but we still blew it, considering the team we had at the time. And eventhough the final would have been very tough vs Real, it was at Hampden Park in Glasgow, so who knows what could have happened over the course of one game. We should have won more CLs in the SAF years and I feel that 4 would have been about right and very much within our reach.
