English players Dual Nationality thread

At this point I'm not convinced that they or anyone else know what's going on, but the Irish Independent reckon that Declan Rice has been offered a "fast track" to the England senior team. Not totally implausible since he could just about get called up on merit even without the dual nationality thing.

^^Possibly worth adding to this that they're obviously wrong about him playing for England under-21s next month while they sort out the switch - he wouldn't be allowed without switching formally, and in any case he's already played for Ireland under-21s in this tournament cycle so he's doubly ineligible. But I don't know if the article is a part-truth padded out with poorly researched nonsense, or just poorly researched nonsense from start to finish.

 

We've seen this before with the Grealish saga. The Irish media will just keep producing new angles for clicks. I wouldn't read anything into it. The FA never go out of their way to cap-tie players even when it would be in their best interests.

Thing is though, these English players only play for Ireland when they aren't that good and want to play international football as a bit of a jolly. So if Kane and Scholes were as good as Townsend and Cascarino then maybe they would have turned out for them but then who would care?
