Lots of articles this morning reporting that MON will call Grealish up into the Ireland senior squad today.

Irish media in a bit of a frenzy. They seem convinced Grealish will be in the provisional squad announced today.

Yeah heard that also, guess we will wait and see on that one. Personally think they are giving him an ultimation and if he refuses then it leaves him open for us. There are also suggestions that hes only going to play against us but not Scotland just in case he changes his mind and wants to switch to us. That would be very odd imo!

The lads on YBIG seem to think Grealish and Bamford are both in the Ireland squad.

Grealish not in the Ireland squad. Few papers went to print saying he was in it in Ireland, and the press conference was delayed for about an hour as MON supposedly tried to convince him.

Journalist:What’s your feeling, do you think he will declare for Ireland?

MON: Do you know what, I really don’t know at this stage. I’m sure there’s still a good possiblity.

Pretty sure Bamford is committed to England just like Harry Kane.

All of this makes me think he'll choose England because we seem to have less of a hands on approach and are more relaxed about this.

It's putting a lot of pressure on a 19 year old lad, a big decision for him to make. Can't blame the Irish for trying though.

Well you'd rather have this than being mediocre. It just seems like the Irish are REALLY pushing for him and he might eventually just have enough of them. Roy Keane even blasted Grealish's father.

Grealish has one irish grandparent and probably never set foot in ireland before being picked for them.
    Typical selection for them .

To be fair, he has three Irish grandparents, not one.

On the other hand, he was born and raised in England and so were both of his parents, so the idea that he owes more to Ireland than to England is faintly absurd. I won't object if they want to call up his granddad though.

I get the feeling on there that most guys are convinced Jack is holding out for an England call up now.

It's quite entertaining reading to be fair and extremely active

We could just seal the whole thing by calling him up into the squad and offer him a start against Slovenia. I don't see why not.

    Aye.

I just hope all this media focus doesn't mess with the lad's head.

Normally I agree but I think he is fairly close to his Irish roots - more than the usual players who discover they have a long lost Grandfather that went to Ireland on a family holiday in 1954 and decide they now want to play for Ireland.:D

In the BBC's report today it says this:

Grealish is believed to be on England Under-21 boss Gareth Southgate's radar although the teenager has said he plans to play for the Republic's Under-21s in their Uefa qualifier against Andorra on 8 September.

If he declined a call up to the Irish NT then why would he plan to play for their U-21 team in September? I say lets just wait until the season ends in 2 weeks and see what he will think then. He's 19. He'll probably have another decision by then.

Bamford was never going to be possible at this point.
