Etienne Green is following Tim Dittmer the England U21 goalkeeper coach on Instagram. Dittmer has a private account so he has to invite you or you have to request to follow him.
Yeah it is. After seeing him liking England tweets during the Euros I browsed his profile and noticed he follows a lot of England players. I randomly decided to check again today whilst on Instagram.
You'd have thought that Musah and Musiala were on board based on their social media interactions too to be fair.
Obviously social media posts and interactions don’t mean anything definitive. It’s pretty much certain that France will call him up at U21 level in the next meet up. He obviously feels a strong connection to England though. Also this is the first I’ve seen of contact between him and our coaching set up. We didn’t know for sure if he was even on their radar.
That's the big difference, yeah. Musah and Musiala's connection comes from their familiarity with the set-up and their former teammates. Green's comes from... where? Why would he care about Lee Carsley if he'd already decided on France? At the very least, it suggests that the door's still open.
Liam Delap apparently heading to Stoke on loan, with him playing senior football you can almost guarantee Ireland will offer a senior call up.
You can guarantee that, but why would anyone of his potential take that up? Ireland are really average side, There’s a clear pathway to the England team with not a lot ahead of him tbh
He has been playing regularly for the Northern Ireland underage teams since he was 13-14 years old, with the u17 Euro qualifiers coming up for both England and NI in October it will be interesting to see who he opts for.
Depends on how strong a connection he feels to Ireland, but he was clearly supporting England during the Euros. Think it probably depends on how he sees the path to England's senior team. He did have talks last year though about being in Ireland's U21s.
He's been playing kiddies football for the last 2 or 3 years now and he has still turned Ireland down. I think he will keep his options open and see if he takes the championship by storm which subsequently will see him attract interest from other prem teams.
This comes from some speculative comments by the Ireland manager no? Unlike many of our duals Delap hasn't played for another nation. He's not even accepted offers to play in non-binding friendlies for Ireland. His dad said there's no debate at the moment for Liam after those comments from the Ireland manager came out. You never know what can happen but he's one of the players to be least concerned about as it stands.
Yeah that's pretty much what I thought. He's been playing kiddies football and still turned Ireland down. Now he's playing mens football he can start to kick on and maybe get a loan in the prem next season.
Delap will probably be part of the under 21s from next season, I can't see him switching. His pathway to the senior team is pretty clear if he keeps progressing, the competition at centre forward isn't so strong. I'm surprised about a move to Stoke though, there's a familial link there with his dad as a coach but Michael O'Neil is really about as far from Guardiola football as you can get. Could be a very tough season for him.
Delap isn't really a Guardiola player. Pep would rather play a 5ft 5 midfielder as a false 9 than use a 9 like Delap.
If he wanted a false nine, which Kane didn't really play as, then he wouldn't need to sign anyone at all.
Whatever you want to call it Kane is not a traditional number 9, he drops into the number 10 position and creates for players in front of him on an increasingly regular basis. Perhaps calling him a 9.5 is more accurate. https://www.squawka.com/en/explained-harry-kanes-role-england-spurs/
Not sure if he’s still attending the Northern Ireland one but Jamie Donley is currently with England U17s at their camp.
Had a quick look, seems like the Northern Ireland camp is this week, so must've chosen to link up with England instead.
The Northern Ireland camp hasn't started yet, the last few have started on a Friday and ran through to the following Tuesday, so he may end up going to both, which is what he has been doing for the last couple of years.
