Olise is going viral on social media for his poor attempt at speaking French while accepting the award for best French player not in France.

This comes across quite mean. He's making an attempt at a second language in the country he is representing. What's dumb about it.

Just his interviews, he comes across a bit dense

I don't think he's thick at all, just very reticent.

Semenyo is nailed on to score against us at the World Cup issint he. Think he could generate quite a lot of coverage about why and how someone born and raised in England is playing for Ghana.

Feels like every time Semenyo scores you say the same.
Quite a few English born players have scored against England and nothing is ever said about it.

This is a bit of a strange thing for a football association official to say publicly. FAI director -

Not even true. I wish it was. We would have the likes of Alex Scott already capped if it were true.

We’ve got 9 one cap players since 2019. That includes the like of Mason Greenwood and injured players like Branthwaite. Are any of these options deliberate cap tie picks?

Harwood-Bellis was because Carsley rewarded him and Nketiah arguably deserved it at the time.

It also says in that link above that England are trying to get Owen Elding into the U21 squad. Blatantly not true. Maybe they are calling some dual nationals into an U20 squad at the end of the month. We were linked with a Swedish player recently.

That is the only way I can see an angle for that Elding story if it has anything to it.

Ireland have a history of their staff making opinions about weird moral high-grounds on duals. There's a weird delusion to think these calls up are all about Ireland, and entitlement that these players they have never developed in anyway should be left for them.

For a country who has historically been extremely reliant on dual nationals playing for them, also very tetchy about any of their players declaring elsewhere.

I remember that used to be (and perhaps still is) a big talking point among Nigerian fans. They kept on trying to warn the likes of Saka that he could end up like Gabby Agbonlahor, who in their view England picked purely to tie him down and then never used him again. I always thought: well, Agbonlahor was a decent option for England at one time (believe it or not), but he ultimately didn't sustain that level for long enough. Anyway, players surely go into these situations with an understanding that they have to re-earn their spot every time a squad is selected, so I don't think you can really claim that it's underhanded.

‘You should play for us because if you turn a bit crap you’ll still get a game’ is a bit of weird gambit.

You see Olise getting some heat on social media for playing for France and it always seems to be from Nigerian accounts.

I don’t see why we shouldn’t be talking to Elding, he’s literally English!

The financial rewards of playing for Ireland are enticing though. Agents will be in his ear.

The biggest hypocrites are the Welsh. They cap Every tom dick and owain as a literal teenager in the hope of captieing them. Then when England for example were looking at neco Williams a few years ago they threw their toys out the pram. They did the same with Biancheri when Canada called him up. Bellends

He’s actually in this squad. Probably not what he thought would happen after being enticed by the Portugal senior coach.

He can still switch back though right as he didn’t play competitively for us did he? If he wanted to that is.
