We've talked about this a lot on here but I think we almost always look crap as a collective at the youngest age groups. The only time I've ever been genuinely impressed with our performances at U16 level is when we had Dan Micciche in charge.

If we're being honest, we look poor-average at every level from U16-U21 far more often than we look good, even in times when we've actually won youth tournaments. It's only the anomalous periods where we have a genuinely good coach in charge that we really look like a good collective unit.

I'm not familiar with a lot of the names in this 2010 pool but the ones I am familiar with (Parker, Watson, Abe, Joseph) all look top to me.

‘Considering his international options’ doesn’t sound good for Scotland. I suppose it begs the question, is he actually any good?

I haven't seen any footage myself but I had a little browse around and those allegedly in the know were speaking very highly of him.

This might be pedantic, but surely this goes into his age group thread, this has nothing to do with his dual nationality.

In 5-20 years time there are going to be a lot more players the FA will want (Both developed in England and developed overseas) but won’t have Citizenship and will require either waiting till they get it or getting express citizenship (Which is not something the Home Office does for sporting reasons unlike some countries that currently do so - Spain and Australia for example)

There's no guarantee these new citizenship laws stick. Shabana Mahmood is despised by Labour members and a significant number of Labour MPs are very opposed to her proposals. She's only going to be in government for a few more months so it really depends on who comes next and what direction the party decides to go.

The Labour membership very much want all of this undone, but it'll require a new leadership with a genuine backbone and such politicians might be in short supply. Let's see.

    Who knows,

There were 200k responses to the consultation. I am wondering if there were any football ones. Both regarding this but also the changes to individual assessment for permanent status which means a Footballer might get it early due to their high income but their spouse won’t because they don’t often work. All the PL clubs use immigration lawyers who surely are aware of this and its affect on Football

I'm not fretting. If he goes he goes. We produce more youngsters than Portugal. He won't be a massive loss

I get the feeling he has decided one way or the other. And I don’t think it’s for England.

I don't think there’s necessarily any indication from that interview but he does speak positively about his early life in Portugal however not sure that’s any indication. I think we go into an automatic defeat mode, expect the worst so won’t be too disappointed. I just don’t necessarily have much faith in our FA talent ID team to be able persuade these type of duals to play for us, not really sure why though, maybe just being a pessimistic Englishman :D

I think that attitude is to be expected when you look at our track record of losing duals to other major countries . I don’t even count the ones we ‘gained’ from the likes of Scotland or Ireland etc. they were all born here and their links to them countries are tenuous at best, plus we can offer them more attractive football.
However, with the likes of Germany, France and Portugal, I do think we are playing second fiddle to these countries. And as you said, I don’t have much faith in our FA to persuade them.

He was born in Portugal and moved here age 8. I think someone pointed out it's like Eric Dier and England. If he wants to play for the nation of his birth then it's understandable.

I really want Mane but I won't cry if we lose him. We've already lose Olise and Musiala and we survived that. Will Mane go on to be as good as those two? Chances are probably not.

That’s completely understandable. I was talking more on a broader scale, our attitude when it comes to keeping duals.

Wanner has told Nagelsmann and Di Salvo (u21) his decision to play for Austria and is expected to be partbof their WC squad. Chukwuemeka next?

How good is Wanner? I remember the hype around him was huge a few years ago but it seems to have died down a bit.

Never really understood the hype tbh, he didn't really stand out to me as an attacking midfielder. Apparently has attitude problems in a way of not challenging himself enough to reach higher levels. Average Bundesliga player I would have reckoned, certainly not German NT level, but he's always had a lot of advance praise by the DFB and Bayern's youth scouts. For PSV he's often played in a more central midfield role lately and done well by most accounts. Don't know if he'd have become an option there for Germany at some point; many are saying this about Maza now he's playing deeper compared to when he broke through as a 10 in the 2. Bundesliga and immediately switched to Algeria after his first youth cap stating he sees no future for himself with players like Musiala or Wirtz in his position...
