It is bizarre how players can be described as average when they simply have to be better all round players than the vast majority of those in the older eras. That is just the way the game has evolved. You have to be very competent at everything.
I'd rather have one world class superstar striker who's always fit than 3 or 4 lower league strikers like Scotland or Wales or even italy
Yeah I guess that’s true. You have to admit though, wouldn’t it be nice to bring on a Michael Owen or Ian wright for when Kane gets injured
Yeah I get it probably does based on career achievements but I think they are in terms of talent levels, and I think that's the only way we can compare them right now since Nketiah has played an average of 600 league minutes per season since breaking through as a senior pro. Nketiah spending nearly 10 years as a pro at Arsenal playing limited minutes really makes it tough to pin him down as a player. If Watkins came through at Arsenal instead of Exeter and stayed there nearly a decade, I think his career would've been very similar to Nketiah's. We'll see over time but I still think Nketiah will have a few seasons as a 15-17 league goal a season striker in the PL (which is largely what Watkins is). His best PL performances (vs. Man Utd at home and Chelsea away) are as good as anything I've seen from an English striker not named Harry Kane in recent years. Environment is everything for a player and Nketiah made a series of very poor career decisions. He's had a lot of niggling injuries at times when he's started hitting form in the past too. He's allegedly an excellent pro though and I think he'll make it work at Palace at some point.

They are not being mentioned as possible switchers. All it says is that they are eligible. Important point. The Ghana coach’s video interview here would make it more difficult to bring in CHO or Nketiah. He’s basically saying they wouldn’t speak to him. 1978462138516545928 is not a valid tweet id

This is what Grok tells me about this account, It was previously a popular football-focused account known as @EuropeanLad which had amassed over 1 million followers before the original owner sold it. The new management rebranded it to @TouchlineX around mid-2024, shifting to a more sensational style of football coverage, which has drawn criticism for lower-quality content compared to its earlier days
Mahdi Nicoll-Jazuli has just beaten Dowman's record to become the youngest scorer in UEFA Youth League history. Out of interest does anyone know if he's a dual national? I'm assuming he very likely is but can't find any info online.
Funnily enough, I've actually asked the same question on here some time ago. I was assuming he might have Moroccan roots (which would make it hard to keep him in the system long-term) as a good friend of mine is of Moroccan descent and has the surname Jazuli and Mahdi is quite a popular first name there (plus the mentioned player's a devouted Muslim from what I've seen). One poster (believe it might have been @Juni ) was mentioning some links to Australia he's heard about at some point but also how his surname Jazuli is very common in the Muslim parts of Nigeria, so as of now we suppose he has Nigerian background...
My first thought was Moroccan. I'm sure we'll find out at some stage but it feels like there's a number of possibilities. Fairs, I just glanced at a post on X that claimed it so my bad there.
I looked on his Instagram but I couldn’t find any clues. Plenty of pics of him on England duty ut no followers of any other countries account and he follows all the high profile English players of similar age
This is the list, he's actually down somewhere around Frankie Runham. What's going on with Frankie these days, do we know? https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/uef.../0?saisonIdVon=2025&saisonIdBis=2013&land_id=
https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/cvg4k3w27x7o But who is Nicoll-Jazuli? He was born in Sydney to an Australian mother, while his father hails from a region around the Chad-Sudan border. He is playing up an age group with England Under-17s but could also be eligible to play for France, highlighting a potential future international tussle. Nicoll-Jazuli's football journey began at Afewee Training Centre, located in Brixton Recreation Centre in south London. He was quickly spotted by Chelsea, Arsenal and Crystal Palace, but opted to join the Blues as a six-year-old, with his younger brother also now at the club.
