He's no worse than Guehi on the ball and better than Burn

Indonesia are still in contention for the World Cup with a squad which in the last couple of years have totslly revamped with a lot of Dutch born players of Indonesian heritage being brought in with the sole aim of making a World Cup either next year or in 2030.

Reminds me of the Philippines women team at the last Women’s World Cup being mostly born in America.

    ????

Guehi is technically very good and an excellent passer.

Burn has played top level matches at full back.

I think you're way off the mark.

To say Slicker is Ipswich's back up is very generous - he has been number 3 all season and when issues with Muric we signed Alex Palmer so he is now 4th choice GK for a Championship club

He played a couple of LC ties at the start of last season as our number 2 was injured, and got 10 minutes in an FA Cup game as a reward in January. But he's only played 3 PDL2 games across 2 seasons so bar Scotland U21 games he just has basically zero matches

Didn't realise tyreece Campbell had chosen Jamaica. He's only 21. I thought he would have been involved with England at under age level

The one that plays for Charlton?

I don't think he can even if he wanted. He already played in competitive underage games for Scotland so surely had to use his one time switch to play for England. Hayden Hackney is in the same boat.

It's the reason layers should be wary of being cap tied at such young ages if it's not their main preference.

I don't see Guehi as a proficient passer at all...he is simply obliged to pass out from the back as part of England's system. That doesn't mean he has natural aptitude for it, it is a weakness in his game. Perhaps that is why Tuchel seems sceptical about picking him?

Doesn't seem like he ever really got on the England radar (perhaps bloomed just a touch too late at a level just a bit too low relative to others in consideration), and he's about to age out now anyway (I believe this is the last U21 Euros he would be eligible for).

The final round of CONCACAF World Cup qualifying begins this year, with all games in September, October and November - we'll know who is in before Christmas. The final 12 are split into 3 groups of 4, and the group winner auto-qualifies. Jamaica was drawn into a group with Curacao, Trinidad, and Bermuda. It's about as clear a path as any country outside of the lucky Kiwis in Oceania can hope for.

This means a very clear path to potential World Cup minutes for a player like Campbell who is relatively young and plays a position of need. Its a good platform for a young, ambitious player who doesn't have realistic England chances and still wants international recognition. Add to this the fact that he has two teammates at Charlton who have multiple caps for Jamaica (Karoy Anderson and Kaheim Dixon, each also under 21) and the decision makes some sense.

Nils Ramming (07) at Frankfurt moving to Brighton.

London-born, lived here until he was 10. Has played competitively for Sweden though so if there was a scenario where he picked England, he'd need file a switch.

Well I'm sorry you've not watched him at youth levels or at Swansea.

It's all documented in youtube, refresh your memory.

    Jamaica are absolutely awful.

Watching them get battered by Panama.

Not sure they will be qualifying for the World Cup. McLaren looks clueless. Has a baseball cap on instead of holding a brolly.

They only have to top a group that features Trinidad and Tobago, Curacao and Bermuda.

Curacao with all of their Dutch players (I think nearly every player of theirs is Dutch born) might be an outside threat but surely Jamaica take that group. Dick Advocaat is Curacao coach too. Didn’t know that.

Yeah. They are bloody awful. Just a group of players, not a team.

Can't even get out of a group with Guatamala and Guadeloupe.

If they do qualify for the World Cup, they had better get some new players. Otherwise it will be 6/7/8

I was quite optimistic following the Unity Cup at the end of May with the very credible showing against a stronger Nigeria side, but I am increasingly getting the vibe that Placid Casual's view may be more likely to be true than I hoped.

The truth is, we're the most overrated team in CONCACAF right now. We don't look mentally or tactically prepared for important games, and we appear to be consistently out-maneuvered, out-hustled and out-coached.

McLaren has not looked up to the task of organizing, preparing and executing with this team, and seems to be getting less than the sum potential of the player pool with each passing game.

Losing Isaac Hayden was provided as an excuse, and it has weight - while this may sound funny to England fans, Hayden is the best #6 we've had in a while and we're a player pool that doesn't produce many capable pro-caliber players in that spot. He did change the team and how it functioned.

But even if I give him that, there's simply no excuse for a coach to allow everything to fall apart when a single player is unavailable. We've lacked a player like Hayden before and done better than we just saw. McLaren is simply struggling to get the most out of this player pool. There are backup plans that exist within our player pool and make sense. It's ridiculous to be so unprepared that a single midfielder dropping results in us starting two centerbacks as central midfield pivots in a competitive game.

As Barry noted, we got the easiest draw one could get without actually being New Zealand. But it isn't a given - Curacao is probably better than the Guatemala team that just took us for a walk. If we show up this unprepared tactically and mentally, they will beat us.

I'll try and take the optimists approach for fall: Hayden will return, one or two additional players should be available for selection in key positions (no big recruits, but maybe Lewis Baker gets his passport finalized and can shore up the central midfield), and with the World Cup on the line there will be a greater sense of urgency for the players on the field and the coach to get this right. Motivation will be there in a way it perhaps wasn't this summer.

That's the best I have, and it's not saying much. We shouldn't need motivation not to flop in a Gold Cup like this, and failure like that certainly casts doubt on one's ability to suddenly wake up with qualifiers 3 months away. But time will tell.

With Indonesia, managed by Patrick Kluvert, in with a chance as well it’s possible they could be two teams that are heavily Dutch born with Dutch mangers making the World Cup.

The draw for those groups as random so it’s quite remarkable the four Caribbean islnds have ll ended up together.

Why do Jamaican passports take a while? Most players get announced as switching and switch quickly but a lot of Jamaican switchers seem to take months.

Documentation and Record-keeping on the island is poor and many older documents have errors (ex: slight name variations, two names listed for the same person on different papers, etc). My mother is dealing with a few real estate transactions we've taken on in Jamaica - grandparents had two names for her, so it took a few extra months to harmonize those and set the record straight. And everyone is slow to do everything.

Footballers are dealing with the same type of thing when they have to chase down a parent or grandparent birth certificate. Its a common problem.

I think the entire Jamaican women’s squad today for their match is either American, Canadian or English born. I can’t find one player born in Jamaica. Interestingly normally Khadija Shaw who was born and raised in Jamaica would be involved as she is their best player but she is injured.
