Right now they would but you might see young players waiting it out a bit if they knew they could get eligibility for a top nation in just a couple of years.

It's clear the permanent cap-tie will be abolished but it's not clear whether the provisional cap-tie would remain in place, but it definitely should. It'd be ridiculous to see players hopping between youth times from year to year.

So how would it work to be provisionally tied to a Nation if the permanent cap-tie is abolished for youth age groups? Wasn’t it before where you were provisionally cap tied but had a one time switch which will now be removed. I’m unsure how it would work.

The provisional cap-tie isn't really a cap-tie, it's just purely there to stop players swapping back and forth constantly.

I think you could easily abolish the permanent cap-tie at youth level without abolishing the provisional cap-tie just to maintain some order.

Edit: Tbf actually I'm wrong, because you have cases like Omari Kellyman who's tied to England now after switching at youth level, so I'm not sure how it'd work.

Yeah I’m confused but unless there are some sort of solid rules around Youth teams, it sounds like it could be some sort of Wild West. I mean I guess if you play an official qualifier say at U17 level, that must lock you down until the end of that qualifying cycle, ie: the final. Then switch to another Country at U18 level and go back to the original Country for U19’s, then after that cycle switch again if they choose to. Sounds mental though and not great for planning your development squads!

I think that's still a bit messy. I think it would make more sense to only allow players only one switch at youth level but let them switch again if the senior setup come calling. It would get pretty stupid if players were switching on a yearly basis.

I might be acting naive but I don’t think the rules are going to change much at youth level. This is all about FIFA being sued by nations because options are determined to be ineligible for senior teams because of youth caps for whatever reason. There isn’t really a big issue with rules at youth level.

The naturalisation rules being lowered might help the likes of the USA before the WC. Someone like Riqui Puig becomes an option for them.

Ever since the US went after FIFA after Qatar got the world cup FIFA have bent over backwards to keep them happy.

It's a 60-man training camp that Rodella has been called up too. Also in the squad is Stoke's Laurence Giani.

Typical that as soon as he debuts for Ireland Tom Cannon becomes the type of player who scores 4 in one match,

    No decision yet from Greenwood
FIFA are yet to receive Mason Greenwood’s formal application to switch his international registration from England to Jamaica.

Greenwood, according to sources, has decided he wants to represent the Reggae Boyz, who have made no secret of their intentions to persuade the striker to play for them.

The 23-year-old, who is of Jamaican descent, has impressed since joining Marseille in the summer - scoring five goals in six Ligue One appearances so far.

But, as of Wednesday night, FIFA were still waiting for Greenwood to file his ‘change of association request’ ahead of anticipated switch to Jamaica.

Greenwood has fallen out of the England picture owing to his well-documented off-the-pitch problems but has been handed an international lifeline by Steve McClaren, who is in charge of Jamaica.

Greenwood has one senior England cap, which came against Iceland in 2020. He was sent home after the game in Reykjavik, together with Phil Foden, for bringing women back to the team hotel.

and he can’t even get in their squad. Wondering if he is regretting his decision. Probably unlikely to make our U21 squad anyway.

Confirmed that Okoduwa was invited to the U17s camps of both England and USA last month. Currently plays for England U17. His father prefers him to represent Nigeria

Wolves' Mateus Mane has been called up to Portugal's U18s. Played for England during the last break, including against Portugal.

Not the first time a player has appeared in two squads at once but it’s rare it’s two UEFA ones.

    Portugal often do this.

England rarely if ever list somebody in the squad unless they've agreed to the call up.

Wolves have also only mentioned the England call-up.
