I would imagine that has gone down like a lead balloon with the Irish. Can’t say I’ve ever heard of him so would imagine a majority of the Irish haven’t either.

He was Iceland’s manager at Euro 2016 but I don’t think many know his name despite that.

Wouldn't surprise me if the desperate FA hired him on that alone. It must have been on of Ireland's greatest ever nights when Iceland beat England in 2016.

That couldn't of been in the pipeline/planning very long, as he was let go/departed after Jamaica lost all there games in the Copa America.

They would have been a bit gutted through. The day before they had lost to France. If they had beaten France next up was the winner of Iceland v England.

Missed this one but Emre Tezgel hasn't gone with Turkey to the U-19 Euros.

It feels unlikely that they won't have offered him a place in the team, but he's just scored for Stoke in preseason so he's likely been kept there by the club - if he even wanted to accept the call-up.

I'm a few pages behind, so this may have been covered - but if someone is born on a US Airbase, then that technically counts as being born on US soil wherever it is - any chance Robinson's Dad was born as such?

It was long in the pipeline, he became their top candidate and started discussions with FAI several months ago. By the time the Copa America began, he was already set to leave. I wrote a longer explainer for the Irish fans below:

He's been excellent for Ipswich, and one who the club think will step up well to PL football - he'll surprise a few next season

But any chance a US airbase in England - although think someone said previously it was Nottingham so wouldn't be the case

It was Nottingham, and every article we've found - including one on the US team's official site - says that the family's US citizenship comes from Antonee's grandmother, who acquired it after Antonee's father was born. If he'd been born on a US airbase then I can't think of a single reason why they'd keep that secret.

Fair enough, presumed/ didn't think he'd be in negotiations with another NT on the eve of a tournament, that's a shame he was, not the best preparation!
