Good performance and Sampson's decisions seems to all pay off. Would have liked Carney to have got at least 30 mins though. Next game is going to be interesting. Spain are probably the best technical team in the tournament and we could be quite lethal on the counter. So it will be a great gauge to see what our level truly is.
Amazing how far the team has come since they put in a ton of work at st Georges park.. and from the previous games I have watched.
and the investments made in the league format. zXen's post from earlier highlights another aspect of it - https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/en...iscussion-thread.2036223/page-2#post-35679249 A bit of a shame more wasn't invested earlier because we had some very good players (Kelly Smith, Fara Williams) then that weren't really playing on a level playing field.
Absolutely dominating performance. I was quietly confident we could bag several goals, but like 4 at the most.We were clinical in all but one of our clear cut chances when Duggan couldn't convert from that 1-2 with Bronze. The thing I was most pleased about was our desire late in the game to get more goals when Scotland was tired and waiting for the game to end.

Kirby scores in the 2nd minute. Currently winning 1-0 late in the first half. Spain have predictably had more of possession.
2-0 FT - Taylor with the final goal. Thought it would be be a hard fought game and it was, very happy for us.
Jodie Taylor is ruthless. Think that is four shots on target and four goals. Pretty dismal display with the ball at times. We could have pressed and countered alot better as a team.
The second string team defeated Portugal 2-1. This means we will face France in the quarters on Sunday. Very harsh draw.
France didn't get it done and I think we'll win. They've struggles thus far and we've taken almost all of our clear cut chances on goal, which we will get.
http://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/40759335 I'm not that clued up on women's football so I might be out of line but how Hope Powell consistently left out Jodie Taylor because she was playing overseas seems bizarre and backward thinking. Anyone follow women's football that maybe can shed any light on this?
Hope Powell just picked her favourites and never really made room in squads for new players to prove themselves. She picked other players that played overseas so I think it was more a failure of giving a chance for certain players to prove themselves. Taylor did have her injury issue on top of that.
Take the lead and then start playing like headless chickens.. some of the defensive play has been shocking... any danger of some composure ?
Why did Sampson not make any changes towards the end? Could have done with the fresh legs. Grinding out a win and being clinical with the chances is always a good sign. Onto the semis...........
Had the same thought and considering the quality on the bench found it puzzling. Obviously taking lessons from Southgate

no changes until last 25 minutes ... you have got to gamble big time when 2-0 down in a semi final FFS
