https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...er-and-dali-in-shock-cull-before-womens-euros French squad will be interesting, They do have a very good set of players but they seem to always underwhelm at major tournaments.
Willamson, Kelly and Russo start for Arsenal. Williams, Mead and Wubben-Moy on the bench. Roebuck is on the bench for Barcelona.
Outstanding effort Arsenal, Champions of Europe again for the second time after 18 years. They were big underdogs against Barcelona so Congratulations!
Massive shock, Women’s footnall used to be rare for shocks buts it’s very healthy it’s happening more and more.
Congratulations to our players at @ArsenalWFC on winning the 2025 #UWCL! 💪 https://t.co/5rcnfJJHl4— Lionesses (@Lionesses) May 24, 2025
Congratulations, @_JessCarter! 👏 https://t.co/DuDYzD1FN6— Lionesses (@Lionesses) May 25, 2025 They join Arsenal at next years new Women’s Champions Cup (Format like the old Club World Cup) Arsenal will probably get a place at the 2028 Women’s club World Cup but not confirmed yet. Carter played at centre back in that final last night I think.
An important 10 days ahead 👊#Lionesses | @Hilton pic.twitter.com/HCyv3nIj9P— Lionesses (@Lionesses) May 26, 2025
Lotte Wubben-Moy has joined the #Lionesses squad for our upcoming #UWNL fixtures against Portugal and Spain. 👇— Lionesses (@Lionesses) May 26, 2025 Millie Bright has withdrawn so she have an extended period of rest with Lotte Wubben-Moy repalcing her. Imagine that might mean Greenwood at Centre back for these two matches with the other main option being Carter. Weigman doesn’t appear to trust Le Tissier or Morgan to start anything important (Maybe that will change who knows).
Mary Earps has retired from International football with immediate effect! Massive news. Hannah Hampton better not get injured otherwise it’s a bunch of non capped players behind her. And Hampton is still a downgrade on Earps at her best. Moorehouse (Presumed 2nd choice) surely has to star the Jamaica friendly at least. Can’t habe two uncapped goalkeppers on the bench.
What the hell is that about? Was it anticipated to be a possibility? Don't think I've ever seen a player retire days before a tournament starts.
I’ve seen it happen in team sports in general before and it’s nearly always some sort of dispute with the coaching staff. The Telegraph are saying she turned up to start of the Nations Leavue camp yesterday and then told them all in an ‘Awkward’ meeting. And that Wiegman is not happy at the timing. Earps had been the non playing goalkeeper before - ar the 2019 World Cup she was N.3 behind Bardsley and Telford so maybe she did just genuinely not fancy doing that again - particularly as some chatter is her and Hampton are less close than a lot of goalkeepers are. Earps says it’s to allow younger players which is true for Keating but Moorehouse who now goes from N.3 to N.2 is 30.
Earps clearly thinks she's the no1 keeper. But you'd think she'd wait until after the Euros. Anything could happen.
Millie Bright has said her withdrawal from the England squad is because she is "mentally and physically" at her limits and needs a break. (The Athletic) The Women's Super League is in advanced discussions with the Professional Footballers' Association over providing a funding deal that would enable all players in the top two divisions to join the union for the first time. https://www.youtube.com/live/7FqZZsKTvqA?si=Pp76Pak-gN39CFIj For those who are intersted: the u19´s game against Germany will be streamed on the DFB´s YT channel. Usually they provide one with English commentary as well, but haven´t found it yet if it even exists for the women.
I hope the FA have not forgotten this match is happening. They have shown pics of the cohort training this week but haven’t published a squad list and the website says the next match is the opening match of the U19 Euros.
We're all with you, @ellabmorris. ❤️Ella Morris has suffered an ACL injury in training and will return to Tottenham Hotspur to begin her rehabilitation.Laura Blindkilde Brown has now joined up the #Lionesses at St. George's Park.— Lionesses (@Lionesses) May 28, 2025 Ella Morris has torn her ACL in training!
