Gerrard's yellow was inexistent, but the paraguayan faked it well and the ref doesn't have the benefit of multi-angle replays. Cole's yellow, on the other hand was well deserved, he went in spikes up and didn't get much of the ball. Mistimed or malicious, it merits a yellow either way. That aside though, England looked lethargic with the exception of Joe Cole, and, surprisingly, Beckham (who outshined Lampard and Gerrard at times).
