Great OP! I think our 5-0 win at their place looks pretty good when you compare it to all their other results! The Dutch only beat them 1-0 a few years ago.

I don't like seeing Lampard in that midfield. Doesn't contribute with much apart from the odd long ball in my opinion

Carrick should be in ahead of him definitely.

Baines ahead of cole too for me.

First game hodgson is playing without Cleverley ?

Perhaps Gerrard will continue the holding role, Wilshere as box-to-box, and Lampard closer to goal?

Is Sturridge not fully fit ?

Hope he starts the Ukraine game.

Sturridge is suffering from an injury. He wasn't fully fit when he played against Man U last week.

Hodgson really does make some odd decisions. Didn't start Barkley for the U21's when he was in charge. Then not long after promotes him to the seniors. Then refuses to pick Lambert in the past even when low on numbers or after injury pull outs. Then reluctantly picks him and comments about how he wouldn't be here for a friendly if there wasn't injuries. Now he's starting a qualifier

Not sure Wilshere should start this game either and the team doesn't offer great width.

I think they're developing a policy of rotating U21 players in and out of the senior squad. I would not be surprised if Barkley dropped back down for the Finland game.

Possibly. If you rate someone as the next to step up though I would assume that person would have to start that U21 game.

If that was the problem then Gerrard wouldn't be starting as he's even worse in that regard. The problem with Lampard is lack of pace if he has to chase back but, tbh, against Moldova it shouldn't be a problem.

As TBM says, it's the NEXT game that has me worried.

Lampard and Gerrard together! Jesus Woy. A lot of our play is going to depend on Wilshere.

Gerrard gets the opening goal after good work down the left with Welbeck, Cole and Lampard!

Moldova have never scored against England. Let's keep that record for tonight.

That was a terrible yellow card decision. I think if Welbeck had "scored" the ref wouldn't of booked him because he thought he was just trying to score.

That's an issue now that he's out.

So far the day has gone well for England. Wining 3-0 and Montenegro and Poland are currently tied. If it ends like that then we will be in first place.

Meanwhile people continue to build a tall pedestal for Ukraine as they are winning 8-0 over San Marino.
