Walcott really should have shot there. We have them on the ropes, we are playing well and Wilshere has found his rhythm, I really hope he is fit for next year, the difference he makes to our team is massive

What a miss by Neymar, should have been an undeserved equaliser.

For all the hype Neymar is a really good player, but I don't think he quite measures up to the kind of attacking players Brazil had only a few years ago.

Good first half. Best half we've played under Roy easily.

Walcott has had a few chances but wasted most of them, we could be 2 or 3-0 up quite easily. We need to take these chances because we are making some small mistakes which could easily cost us an undeserved goal

    Decent half, deserve the lead.

Midfield three of Gerrard-Wilshere-Cleverley has been excellent, dominated Brazil's central midfield. Although it helps the Brazilians playing with way too much distance between Ramires-Paulinho and Ronaldinho-Fabiano.

Welbeck has been poor. In fairness to him playing out of position and not in form, but it is showing. He does seem to be keeping Alves pushed back with his pace and strength, so not a total loss. Would be good to see a change there at some point in the 2nd half, Chamberlain/Osman or Lennon switching with Walcott.

Walcott our biggest threat with his pace, but end product not been there.

Cole has been skinned a couple of times by Oscar, would be good to see Baines get a run out given his excellent form. I suppose with his 100th cap Cole will get most of the game though.

Would have been good if Sturridge was available, his pace and skill could have really harmed Brazil I feel

I agree. I know Neymar is young but he is not a patch on Ronaldo or Romario.

So far so good by England. Johnson is getting a lot of joy down our right and combining well with Walcott and Cleverly. Their RB has had a tough half. We have not shown as much on our left as yet though. Oscar is giving Cole some problems and has got through a couple of time on the Brazilian Right flank. Smalling being a rookie and also being right-footed is possibly leaving Cole a little exposed. Maybe swap Cahill with Smalling in the second half? They are both Right-footed but Cahill's extra experience should help.

Hart did well to save that penalty, I thought Cleverly had cleared the rebound but it was just Neymar missing the target and failing to execute an attempted chip over the keeper. So Neymar has missed two good chances so far.

Gerrard's spreading of the play is helping us attack into space on the counter and Wilshere's surges up to the box and intricate wall-passes have worked the ball into great positions. Ramires and Paulinho have struggled to contain Wilshere's attacking runs. Ronaldinho has not managed to penetrate down the Brazilian left in the same way as Oscar has attacked the right. Walcott has looked very sharp and could get on the score sheet in the next half.

More sloppy defending, lucky not to be 1-2. Rooney rightly giving them a blast.

Lampard gives us the lead with a great shot from the edge of the box after good work by Walcott and Rooney.
