    What do you guys think?

I'd personally love to hear him call this match. I remember some people here wanting only US guys calling US matches, but I have to disagree in this case. This has the potential to be a legendary match and I'd love it to be called by a legendary broadcaster. :)

I can't imagine him not calling that match.

Let's just be clear: Eurosnobs wants Martin Tyler to broadcast not because he's "legendary" but because he's British. Made clear by this thread specifically about USA-England.

JP and Harkes should get all of the USA games. How nice it would be to have a biased announcer call that game for a USA TV station.

    Even whip admits it. Thanks!

Enough of this phony talk about "we just want the best talent regardless of nationality." Everybody knows it's all about sounding, acting, and being British for a lot of American fans.

I like how the guy calls a game. That makes me a "Eurosnob" and "phony"? lol, OK. And btw, I didn't say I wanted him calling all US games, just this one.

@ soccerusa517, I don't think he'll be biased; very unprofessional. Seriously, get hired by ESPN, then be biased against US? Hmmm...

Well this "Eurosnob" is heading off to see the U-17 nats take on Portugal.

As long as Andy Gray doesn't comment I'll be fine.

    How about USA/England Fanzone style?

Martin Tyler for England, JP Dellacamera for the US. Bunch of yelling and screaming when goals are scored! :D

oh calm down......... Minor league sawhker snob,

MT is brilliant and the voice of english-language commentary, John Champion would be the only other choice.

Bob Cole and Harry Neale were for decades the voice of Hockey Night in Canada , for millions of Americans as well. Does that make us Canadian-snobs as well??????

    grow the ******** up.

Why is this likely to be a legendary match? It's the first game of the group stage, likely forgotten once the tournament gets into later stages. Get off the English obsession people, good teams face each other in group stages, it happens. I really hope the players don't overhype it like some people are and lose sight of the real goal in this tournament

Thanks for proving my point. It's all about regionalism after all. Quality has very little to do with it.

I smell a petition coming :). Or why not have ESPN use the SAP button so we get both?

We have to have Martin Tyler either way. I wonder if Robbie Earle will be the Color guy since he's been on ESPN Press Pass before.

I disagree. I still think the U.S. v Italy game was legendary in 2006. The U.S. v Portugal game was legendary in 2002. And as a fan of the U.S., I'd love to quiet all the European elitists who think the U.S. still can't consistently stand toe to toe with them....oh wait....I'm a "Eurosnob," so I should want England to win. I almost forgot.

That's your opinion. I consider MT to be one of the best English speaking broadcasters in the world. I suppose ESPN just hired him for his adorable accent and not because he knows how to call a game. He's one of the most in-demand broadcasters in the world for a reason.

I like how this game will have to be on ABC.

I'm surprised you can't see that he is miles better in presentation and perspective than the aforementioned. Xenophobia aside.
