If I could ask, what's the history behind the hostility between Turkey/England?

Can't believe we didn't have the game sown up by half time, as it it we deservedly won the group and hopefully the Turks will get drawn with the Netherlands in the playoffs and be watching the finals on TV :D

Turkey have proved that they are not a top tier team by any means, a weak defense and an attack with no bite. As for their behaviour, what a bunch of animals, especially Alpay.

England on the other hand showed great determination to get a result after all that's gone on this week and after losing Rio and Michael. We still need to sort out the left side, but we've got 6 months and a number of options for that.

David Beckham will be knighted when he retires, what a top bloke and he deserved a winning goal tonight, but there'll be other games for that:D

Goes back a little...Read "Seven pillars of Wisdom" or rent the movie "Lawrence of Arabia" and work your way back through about 90 years and the spill over into football.

Even farther back than that England took on Russia to stop them taking over Turkey, Stopping them in the Crimea.
The Turks never forgave us...! :)

about the hostility between the English and Turks-there really isn't that much hostility.
The English tabloids made up numerous scenarios about how vioolent those 'turks' were, but did the Turkish fans invade the pitch like their English counterparts in Sunderland? Did the Turksih fans chant racist songs like "I'd rather be a paki than a Turk"?

    NO.

    what does this tell us?
It tells us that the English media hyped up all that for nothing. Which was my theory from the get-go.

Congratulations on the draw, Turkey should've played more organized football, I'm disappointed at the tactics Senol Gunes used.
