Lmao, the only left-footed defender in the entire squad is now Bashir Humphreys. I like the Kellen Fisher addition at least. I think he should be in this squad going forward and Livramento should be in the seniors.

I expect this team to struggle a bit in the two upcoming games. Heavily depleted squad + good opposition + the way the team has looked with Ben Futcher in charge means I can't see the team delivering particularly impressive performances.

Not sure Livramento will be in the seniors under Tuchel. Might just be James and Trent.

I'm not sure that moving all of these U21s into the seniors is a good idea when half of them are not going to be picked by Tuchel. We're going to end up with many of them looking for a way out of U21 duty.

It's a good point but on the other hand we don't really know who Tuchel is going to pick. The likes of Harwood-Bellis we can assume won't be his first choice, but I think Livramento and Rogers would both have a good chance.

They would have e a chance but a lot of older players will be on his radar as well.

There aren’t many quality older options (that haven’t been capped much) who could have been picked. If Carsley had gone with older options the squad would likely look pretty awful.

I think he could've easily gone with Tomori or Chalobah over THB. I think of the four who've come from the U21s, THB is the only one who's a bit questionable though.

Yeah, I said at the time THB was the strange promotion. Simply not got enough top level experience.

Carsley is obviously rewarding players the he likes from the Euro winning u21 side. It is what it is. Glad he'll be gone soon.

100%. Any England squad should always consist of the very best players available, regardless of age. In selecting TBH and James Trafford, who simply don't fall into that category right now, Carsley has been blinded by sentiment for me. Which is just plain callous for an England manager.

Nick Pope must be wondering why Trafford got the nod over him when Ramsdale withdraw.

THB stands a fair chance of getting a cap particularly in the Ireland match.

Through there is a chance Tuchel will do the same if he returns the likes of Mount or Dier.

Tomori should have been drafted in. He's playing regularly at the top level and never gets a look in

Quansah is still with the Seniors today - looks like he might not go to Spain if this continues.

If Pope isn’t getting selected in main squads you don’t want to keep calling him up as a late replacement. Not fair on him. Trafford coming in and training (knowing he will not play) seems logical in the circumstances.

For months when Curtis Jones was mentioned you would go on at every opportunity about him needing to start continuous games but you now keep highlighting these two guys who haven’t strung regular starts together for ages.

I wouldn’t put them anywhere near the squad but Tuchel could well have one or two ‘captain’s pick’ who are they for other reason then their current form.

Mount and Dier as captain picks

Most of your comments are actually not about what you would do but some bizarre outlandish prediction of what someone else might do.

I disagree. You pick the best players available. Full stop. Nick Pope is a better keeper than James Trafford right now. If you simply want to give a youngster a taste of the seniors, then let them come over from the U21s to train for a few sessions, like we've seen in the past.

I don't really see the problem with Trafford in this window, Pope probably has gone on holiday for a few days and to bring him in just to be a training keeper won't do any favours with a relationship with him in the long term

He has gone to Saudi Arabia with the rest of the Newcastle squad for training,

Bit horse. He's basically the substitute teacher and it's the last week of term - nil authority, nill motivation.

I assume it was Tuchel rather than the FA who made the decision not to start until the new year. Who knows why they thought it was a good idea but it's completely wasted this window.

That's his second meniscus tear at 21. Don't know if it's the same knee or not. Fortunately they don't usually impact athletic power in the way ACL injuries do but they sometimes force athletes to change their running mechanics. Hopefully he doesn't have to do anything of the sort.

Yes, but Newcastle fans still get palpitations when the ball is passed to him with an opposition player within 30 yards.
Ultimately, do you want your third choice keeper to be a great shot stopper who is technically limited, or someone you think can eventually step up to be your number one?
