He cut short his break to go on Palace's US Tour, they've obviously absolutely ballsed up with assessing the injury.

Middlesbrough have ruled out the possibility of 22-year-old English midfielder Hayden Hackney joining Newcastle United or Tottenham Hotspur in January. (GiveMeSport)
Charlie Hughes has finally worked his way into Hull's starting lineup and he's making a very big impression. Might be tough to break into this squad before the Euros now as Carsley will understandably probably want to keep the squad quite settled, but he's a truly top prospect and will be playing in the PL very soon imo.
Particularly at centre back. Some other potions might be easier to break into due to players being promoted up to the seniors or going to the Club World Cup
Equally though I don't think the centre-backs in this squad are particularly great, Quansah aside. Branthwaite is quality but it remains to be seen if he'll come back down. TBH/Doyle/Cresswell are all fine, but I don't think any of them are future England internationals. Especially not Cresswell or Doyle.
I disagree on Doyle he’s wracked up a lot of appearances and has had four solid seasons since he was 17 at Sunderland.
I think he's got a good chance of having a long career in the Premier League, he's just concerningly slow yet doesn't have extraordinary size to make up for it and you have to be near perfect to get to the very top with those physical tools now.

So in other words, they are hoping they can get another few substandard games out of him before inevitably making his injury even worse!
Then smashed what would have been a goal of the season contender against the post in the 98th minute.
