Sam Tickle with 7 league clean sheets in 10 games this season in League One. James Trafford 5 league clean sheets in 9 games.
Might be in contention for this squad if he can have a run of goal scoring form. 1842658174702133458 is not a valid tweet id
He played every friendly match at Under-17 for England , having already been a regular at Under-16 level, then disappeared for the Uefa competition squad, reappeared again at Under-18, was out of the squad again at Under-19 level where there are official matches, reappeared once again at Under-20 where only friendlies are played and then then mysteriously left out at Under-21 level , despite us being very short of emerging left backs. It can only be a passport issue. This is another factor that counts against us which FA can do nothing about - it seems to be a bigger challenge to get UK citizenship than apparently any country in Europe. David Ozoh another one seems to be in the same boat....performing well for Derby but England seeming to be unable to pick him since Under-18 level. They've been in England since young kids, just give these people (whether sportsmen or not) who have lived most their lives here their passport please, even if it does offend the Farage voters!
They have to pass the citizenship test don't they? Willian failed it twice before getting his passport. I think if you're not that academic it can be quite hard.
Currently if they over 18 they do but in a few months Cirkin as an Irish citizen will be exempt after a new law was passed in May.
Most of Europe does have citizenship tests but also sporting exemptions (Spain and Italy have both recently granted some sporting citizenships way outside the usual rules) David Ozoh must have a Spanish passport as It’s unusual to want to only have a Nigerian paspsort and have to deal with visas for travelling to Europe etc any longer than needed,
He even shared those U17 caps with another player (playing a half each). He has the same amount of friendly caps at U18 level as someone in the same position (Wilson-Esbrand). I’m not even saying it is not a passport issue. I’m saying any claim he missed the U17 finals because of it is at this point unfounded.
Cast your mind back to the game in Ireland in which he was sent off. I think this is a possible reason as per JJ Morgan vs Portugal when he faced a period of non selection. Cirkin was excellent on Friday, perhaps our Sunderland supporter on here can shed some light on it.
https://www.thisisanfield.com/2024/...up-to-england-squads-as-amara-nallo-promoted/ Is this article right in that unless Ukraine don’t beat Serbia we will be in a play off?
He's their 3rd choice centre back, you'd expect him to get a good amount of minutes across the season, particularly given Konate's injury history. Didn't help he was subbed off at half time in the first game and Konate has been in imperios form since either.
Quansah has been getting a decent amount of game time at Liverpool since he broke through but it has admittedly slowed down a bit, they do clearly rate him though. It depends what happens with VVD ultimately. His contract is up at the end of the year, if he leaves at the end of the season then Quansah will get a proper chance to prove himself but I don't think it's out of the question than Van Dijk sticks around for another two or even three years yet. In that case it would probably mean Quansah stagnates a bit unless there was a big injury somewhere else.
With no squad update do we take it Adam Wharton has been approved to play? I can’t see him in the pics of the U21’s.
Arsenal and Manchester United are tracking Wigan Athletic's 22-year-old English goalkeeper Sam Tickle as they look to bolster their goalkeeping options. (Team Talk)
Its possible I suppose but if England are still choosing not to pick him at Under-21 level, despite our lack of emerging talent in that position, when he had been a top championship performer this season, and with him being triple qualified as well, then I'd be highly disappointed and perplexed. I'm assuming its therefore a passport issue, unless he's upset someone at the FA
‘Teden Mengi and Dane Scarlett have joined the England MU21s squad ahead of their upcoming 2025 U21 EURO qualifiers against Ukraine and Azerbaijan. Luton Town defender Mengi previously represented the Young Lions during their 7-0 victory over Luxembourg in March, and has now been added to Ben Futcher’s squad, with Tino Livramento joining Lee Carsley’s senior men’s team ahead of their UEFA Nations League fixtures against Greece and Finland. Tottenham Hotspur forward Scarlett, who is currently on loan at Oxford United, also made his England MU21s debut against Luxembourg, in the 3-0 away victory in September 2023 which kicked-off the current qualifying campaign. Meanwhile, Middlesbrough’s Hayden Hackney and Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton will play no part in the upcoming fixtures, with both midfielders remaining with their clubs on medical advice. The Young Lions face Ukraine at a sold-out Vitality Stadium on Friday 11 October, before taking on Azerbaijan at Ashton Gate on Tuesday 15 October.’ So Palace got their way. 1844316995979968837 is not a valid tweet id
The FA absolutely love Scarlett. I'll admit I haven't seen a tonne of what he's done at senior level so far but it seems quite obvious he's found the transition difficult because he's played under several coaches who are willing to use young players and are successful doing so. I had really high hopes for Scarlett but unless he starts to produce at senior level there has to come a point where you start to reassess his ceiling given his age now.
This is getting beyond ridiculous! Just let the kid recover full stop! What are the odds he’s starting for Palace next week and probably 50% fit and gets subbed off on the 60th minute without having much impact on the game!
