Wasn't too bad but just lost possession a few times and was caught out in behind and Anjorin has been there too help out. I'm sure Asare is normally a centre-back or centre-mid and coming on at right-back.
From watching the last 35 mins, I thought the game was very competitive and of a high standard with bright, lively, determined play from both sides.
Did well to hold onto to that lead, Italy were applying a lot of pressure. This crop looks quite good and the next game will be interesting. It's not often we come out against a top team in the second half and turn the tables on the opposition. This was really enjoyable viewing.
Yesterday was a really encouraging first viewing of this group. Thought Dixon-Bonner was really good at the base of midfield. Strong with the ball and without the ball and along with the Anjorin/Ogbeta rock solid partnership who had a bit of class about them. Our spine was strong and set a good platform for the attacking players. But the attacking play by Longstaff, Cashman, Coyle and even Doyle and Appiah when they came on at HT was fluid and probing and good too watch. Really excited. Some decent young players who have reputations at their clubs aren't even in the squad. Some may have missed out due to injury. DF: Ajibola Alese (West Ham) Tom Solanke (WBA) MF: Brennan Johnson (Forest) Ethan Dekel (Forest) Mason Greenwood (Manchester United) Paul Glatzel (Liverpool) Paris Maghoma (Tottenham) ATT: Jamie Bowden (Tottenham) Keyendrah Simmonds (Manchester City)
Bowden is a midfielder mate CM/DM seen him also cover RB if needs be. What I was going to ask is how good are the wingers in this group, as I am genuinely surprised Rayan Clarke has never been called up and I'd add him as an extra one we have in the wings (pun..intended). Someone described him as moving Hazard like which I can see. Maybe in the future
Cheers bud. For some reason thought he played wide-right. Quite a diminutive player. Makes the midfield the most competitive by the looks of the above who missed out. From the viewing yesterday. Coyle and Longstaff were very good out wide. Not going by first choice but just going by the starting XI yesterday and those that didn't start yesterday for the front 6. Duncan Coyle Cashman Longstaff Jones D-Bonner Appiah Amaechi Tulloch Sole Doyle Shihab/Asare Maybe Juni will know about Amaechi and Sole ? I know Arsenal signed Amaechi from Fulham. Also Appiah can play anywhere in the front 4. So those would be the options. Not sure if Tulloch is versatile like Appiah as well.
Even though ive not seen him play but purely going of reputation could you add James McAtee to the list? Or is he to young, not quite sure of his DOB.
McAtee is a late 2002. Greenwood is a forward. Anyone know who're supposed to be the highest rated defenders of this group?
Wide-forward ? Jamie Bowden is a '4/6' or '8' ? Paris Maghoma a '4/6' or can he play '8' as well ? Brennan Johnson is a '8' Ethan Dekel is a '10' Paul Glatzel is a '10' There is that fine line as well. For example yesterday Cashman looks like he is a midfielder who can play '10' but Tulloch/Appiah more forward '10s' where they can't play midfield. But in saying that they did play 4-1-4-1 more yesterday. From the defenders I think Alese and Solanke have been in u18 squads for their clubs but missed out. But I thought Anjorin was classy yesterday.
I guess that's U15's football for you, beat a prestigious football Country like Italy and then potentially lose to a Country like Qatar with all due respect.
Do we know what players make up the Qatar squad. It's not imported African young footballers of indeterminate age, trained within an inch of their lives, is it?
