The selection process includes all four categories, but it particularly opens up opportunities for categories 3 and 4, who typically wouldn't be chosen. This gives scouts a chance to bring hidden talents to the forefront.
What obvious players could be in the squad in the 2010 group? The only ones that immediately come to mind are JJ Gabriel and Xavier Parker
JJ Gabriel (Man United) Emmanuel Fejokwu (West Ham) Vincent Joseph (Liverpool) - Also been with Germany
It’s mad how many duals we have with have with Germany these days. Obviously, probably before the Brexit restrictions but seems to be quite a few these days.
Good to see JJ Gabriel in there. Quite a prominent Irish football account on Twitter (who claims to assist the FAI in its identification of dual national talents) claims the FAI are close to finalising the formation of a department that will specialise in dual national recruitment, with a specific focus on recruiting English/Irish duals. We need to make sure we get players of this calibre in early because they're probably going to start aggressively going for the players at a really young age.
