Darko Gyabi was really impressive for Plymouth today. His senior career hasn't all gone his way so far but I noticed he'd been getting a bit of praise from Plymouth fans of late, and he was quite a standout today. You can tell the FA really rate him because he's been preferentially treated quite a lot in past squad selections and it looks like they're justified in that.
Chelsea reportedly tried to sign Manchester City starlet Nico O'Reilly in January, only for their advances to be soundly rejected. (Daily Mail)
Will Alves seems to have made a big impression at Cardiff early doors. Drew a lot of praise in midweek for an appearance off the bench and played 90 minutes today, supposedly playing extremely well.
Has Golding been injured? Seen he hasn't been involved much recently but can't see anything about an injury. I'd fancy him to have a big impact in the Championship next season if you go down.
no idea, he was playing regularly for the U21s, we thought he was being lined up for a loan, had an injury at the start of the season so could be again, the club say almost nothing about the U21s
Unreal from Jamie Donley! 🤩 pic.twitter.com/8qmTBrXYGN— Sky Sports Football (@SkyFootball) February 18, 2025 Really nice goal by Donley tonight. Still unsure about him as a potential England player because of his physical limitations but his ball striking can't be questioned. Hopefully he gets a decent Championship loan next season to see how he gets on at that level. He'll have a big chance with the U21s next cycle too because there aren't a tonne of attacking midfield options.
Gone under the radar a bit but Norwich have a left-back named Lucien Mahovo who's been getting consistent starts recently. I've seen nothing of him at all but there seems to be quite a bit of buzz around him. Only 19, was in Sheffield United's academy before moving to Notts County and then Norwich. No prior England youth caps. One to keep an eye on.
That would become a good story if he becomes a success for other youngsters to take note that dropping down the leagues could end up being the making of them rather than joining other top flight teams just to play Premier League 2 games. To be fair maybe he didn’t have much choice and has just flourished in that environment, I don’t know.
Very good performance by Oliver Scarles today. Obviously at left-back but you'd hope these full-back minutes are a precursor to him eventually being moved into midfield. It comes after George Earthy bagged a brace for Bristol City last night too. Hopefully we see Oliver Scarles and Kaelan Casey getting opportunities in the near future. There's a tonne of talent from that FA Cup Youth-winning side a couple of years ago and West Ham should be doing everything to try and bring them through.
⚠️ | QUICK STATWest Ham's 19-year-old LB Oliver Scarles today became the first player with 6+ interceptions and 6+ tackles in a Premier League match since 3 February 2024 (Idrissa Gueye v Tottenham). 💪Oh yeah — this was Scarles' first-ever Premier League start! 🤯#ARSWHU pic.twitter.com/3ebcAlankZ— Sofascore Football (@SofascoreINT) February 22, 2025
Ollie Scarles has impressed Football Association scouts since his senior breakthrough earlier this season. Scarles has impressed under Graham Potter in recent weeks and has caught the eye of national talent spotters. The 19-year-old has already played for England juniors through to Under-18s, but can expect a promotion through the age groups should he show consistency with his displays. (Daily Mail)
All of a sudden our future left back options aren’t looking too bad. Hall, Skelly, Scarles, Burrows and possibly Davis.

There's little Emeka Adiele that might come through on the left side under Potter too if he keeps his temper. He's a bit spiky but he's got the lot. I think Scarles will go in field as he reads it that well. I thought his main asset was moving the ball around but being ignored for two seasons has probably put some fire in his belly. West Ham in good shape youth wise but lost to Grimsby in the FA youth cup!
Nathan Lowe was an unused substitute in a 0-0 draw with Watford today. Scored on his first game back after getting recalled but he hasn't scored since and has largely only had minutes off the bench. Very disappointing but slightly predictable too imo. Hope he can rediscover his momentum wherever he goes next.

Well, they have started off the Tuchel campaign with the squad selection being announced unusually late. Be it it’s only 5 mins but that’s rare, usually the FA are pretty good at releasing squads bang on time.
