Mate they were managing England underage teams not the Senior team. Managing a senior team in the championship is an obvious step up from that. The u19s setup have normally had inexperienced managers like Noel Blake and Peacock or failed managers like Odriscoll and Boothroyd managing the team, it's a stepping stone an a place to rebuild your reputation not the pinnacle.
To be fair I'm also surprised they've left their jobs to take coaching positions at Bristol City. Their new managers only previous job he was sacked at Oldham after a few months, so its a big risk for them. They could easily find themselves jobless in a few months, whereas the underage teams are pretty cushy jobs really. I wouldn't be surprised if there's more to it, perhaps pay cuts in the offing in line with their initial idea to scrap the under 18 and under 20 teams entirely. I'd have at least thought they'd have been able to leverage the positive PR from the England youth teams into actual managerial positions.
UEFA announced some changes to the U19 Euros format. The Elite Round qualifiers will take place in October, then the final tournament is split in two. The group stage will take place in November 2020 while the knockout stages will be during March 2021. Also, the new Nations League type system is being held back for another year. So the 2020/21 edition will be a normal tournament.
MU19s v Scotland, International Match, Thursday 8 October, St. George’s Park v Scotland, International Match, Sunday 11 October, St. George’s Park Squad announced: 11.30am, Friday 2 October
Perhaps you were right in the first place, Scotland U19 have announced their squad for these two games and it's all 2002 born players.
The 19/20 U19 season is being completed. Can feature 01s but also a lot of players will play up. Even more so than normally because the 03s are good and because an extra year at this age closes the gap massively in terms of maturity + physical development between the older years. But concurrently the 20/21 U19 cycle will be ongoing too for the 2002 onwards. The Scotland friendlies are for them.
Goalkeepers: Coniah Boyce-Clarke (Reading), Louie Moulden (Manchester City), James Trafford (Manchester City) Defenders: Levi Colwill (Chelsea), Charlie Cresswell (Leeds United), Kaine Kesler (Aston Villa), Teden Mengi (Manchester United), Luke Matheson (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Haydon Roberts (Brighton & Hove Albion), Dynel Simeu (Chelsea), Nathan Wood (Middlesbrough) Midfielders: Miguel Azeez (Arsenal), Lewis Bate (Chelsea), Yunus Musah (Valencia), Jensen Weir (Brighton & Hove Albion) Forwards: Harvey Elliott (Liverpool), Joe Gelhardt (Leeds United), Sam Greenwood (Leeds United), James McAtee (Manchester City), Noni Madueke (PSV Eindhoven), Alex Mighten (Nottingham Forest), Cole Palmer (Manchester City), Morgan Rogers (Manchester City) Notable that Musiala is not here, nor in the under 18 training camp squad.
I wouldn’t jump the gun just yet, there could be many reasons why he’s not in any of the squads. If it’s any consolation there is nothing on the German threads about this either and they are usually quite sharp on these sort of issues about duals.
Thought Fabio Carvalho or Teddy Jenks might make the midfield. Another squad that seems lacking at left back, Haydon Roberts will probably play there again but he's a centre back for Brighton. Assume Dennis Cirkin is unavailable as I know he's highly rated at Spurs.

This doesn't sound good England u-19s v Scotland u-19s at SGP abandoned... More to follow @MirrorFootball— John Cross (@johncrossmirror) October 8, 2020
Wonder what has happened here?!? Covid related I wonder but that doesn’t sound likely. Maybe a bad injury to someone but really hope it’s nothing like that.
England U19s v Scotland U19s abandoned. Eng 3-1 up at half-time and players waiting to go out.... Players told a Covid test result of one of the backroom staff was revealed during match, causing cancellation— Mike McGrath (@mcgrathmike) October 8, 2020

So now all U19/U17’s games against Scotland have been cancelled. What a mess and it feels like this could have been avoided had everyone been tested and got the results way before the game. I hope the FA/Government don’t panic and pull all our youth teams out of Euro qualifying.
Abandoned in the 43rd minute apparently. It's the Scotland U19 manager who tested positive. The Independent stating that once the match was called off, players and staff were kept from entering any buildings on site. Doubt it, the U19 elite qualifiers are supposed to be next month and they're in Denmark. U17 next year in Greece. If certain players now have to isolate at home I can see clubs being angry though.
