Do Brentford have a good track record of bringing youth through?

I'm of the opinion that Monga to Arsenal isn't a bad move. I agree he's not ready to meaningfully contribute for them yet but he doesn't need to play every week at this moment.

Training in an elite environment and getting a few appearances here and there in lower stakes games seems like a fine next step to me.

Arsenal have shown they're willing to give youth a chance and they're not the sort of club that stockpiles players. I don't think Arsenal treat signings and players like Chelsea do. I think when they sign a player they very much intend to get their money's worth.

When you actually look at the evidence, nearly every Premier League club is as bad as each for denying their youth opportunities. There's a few exceptions who are particularly bad but players like Howell, Benamar, Borrowes, Okaduwa haven't been getting a lot of opportunities despite not being at big six clubs.

West Ham have had a tonne of good England Youth internationals in the last few years, many were part of a very good FA Youth Cup winning team, and none of them are anywhere to be seen. Not one was given a fair crack at the whip.

You can probably argue some of the bigger clubs are actually better at providing pathways for academy kids than the mid-table lot. A lot of big 6 academy products might be better but so is the bar to play for the first team.

Pre-contract agreements for minors are really effectively gentleman agreements rather than legally binding, though I imagine that all parties involved will want to avoid that mess.

he's a minor until he turns 18 but no one tries to claim contracts 17 year olds sign aren't legally valid, they are legally binding his parents would have had to sign off on it

Defender Stephen Mfuni is wanted by Derby County on a season-long loan deal. The Manchester City youngster, 18, spent part of last season on loan at the Rams' Championship rivals Watford. (Football League World), external

Arsenal are looking to add five more players during the summer transfer window with Leicester City's 16-year-old English winger Jeremy Monga among players targeted by the Premier League champions. (Star, external)

Oliver Whatmuff has joined Stockport on a season long loan. Decent move providing he’s first choice.

Best thing for him to get out of Leicester

If I was Paga, Aluko and others I would be doing the same

Can the next post about Monga either be that it’s confirmed or it’s collapsed? We just seem to keep posting the same sort of post.

The amount of England youth talent hoarded at City alone is staggering, it can't be good. I'm not sure what the deal is with Reigan Heskey and if he's staying now, but presumably this will bring Monga in over him.

Feels like he would have been better off staying at Leicester for this season, plenty of opportunity to impress in a team that should be title contenders in League One. Instead he'll presumably be in development football all season.
