Honestly, I don’t think people realise how good he is still. I think he’s better than Saka, Odegaard And Eze already, if he can improve the finishing then who knows what the limit is. He’ll need to deal with the attention and pressure that comes with it but I don’t think I’ve seen a player step up the levels and look as good this so effortlessly.
I wonder what they do with Dowman next week when the squads are announced. I personally think he might go with the U21’s.
Yeah was wondering about that myself. Tuchel wouldn’t consider him for the seniors would he as a potential wild card who could change a game on a sixpence. I personally think it’s too soon but god knows what the senior coaching staff think.
Even if he did think that I think he would wait until the end of the season to pick him. Who knows though.

Max Dowman has been compared to Lionel Messi by John Terry - who hailed him as a "proper talent" - Daily Mirror
Jason Burt in the Telegraph is saying Dowman and Ngumhoa are expected to stay in this age group and hopefully go to the U19 Euros if qualification is successful.
Mfuni reportedly out for the rest of the season. Will miss the qualifiers & possibly the final tournament if we make it.
Defence will look a lot weaker without Mfuni and Amass. Perhaps an opportunity for the likes of McFarlane, Adiele and Garcia.
Max Dowman’s father and brother have both obtained FIFA agent licenses, with the family intent on managing the teenager’s blossoming career | The Guardian https://t.co/AyIvoHdIrl— Matt Hughes (@MattHughesMedia) March 18, 2026 Suspect the FA won’t be happy to hear that after their experiences with Mark Bellingham.
Is Mark Bellingham Jude’s agent as well? I didn’t realise that, just thought he was an overly busy father.
It was mentioned in another thread that Jack Fletcher has been banned for half a dozen games. Will that include these youth fixtures? Yeah that duo are best defenders England had at U19 level. And from what I can tell, Oliver Whatmuff is most highly rated goalkeeper but might be staying with top of the table Rochdale given that tier doesn't stop for international breaks. Are there any other injuries? Southampton manager said Jay Robinson would be back this month but I assume won't return in time for internationals. Bit of a shame for the lad as Robinson also had to withdraw before qualifiers in November. Of course players also get injured in academy games but maybe not a coincidence the few players competing regularly in the Championship (eg trio of Amass, Mfuni & Robinson) against adults often end up physically suffering? Pity, remember Spike looked really promising back when England U16 won Montaigu. Obviously these U19 fixtures are decisive qualifiers so I'd hope they will go as strong as possible. It's not as if Poland or Serbia are exactly easy but Portugal away is particularly tough. Their 2007 side were runners-up at U17 tournament and 2008 born options won U17 World Cup in Qatar last year. By contrast England U21 are cruising qualifying under Carsley and they have Andorra and Moldova this month. If they do promote Dowman or Ngumoha maybe they could select Lacey for this U19 team.
Bans don’t tend to include international fixtures but I think there is a chance they leave him out due to the reason for the ban
