Shame we are missing so many players including the captain. Great fight back, they deserve a lot of credit.
Ridiculous character from our boys. It's rare we go down with a whimper at any level and you could see the players always trying to motivate each other, even at 5-1. Probably going to have to make changes to the back four for the Netherlands game. I actually thought Abbott was decent tonight despite the overall struggles of the back four. I think you'd want Murray-Campbell and Rowe coming back in to start.
Hard to critique too much with everything that has happened but I didn’t expect that many changes to be made for this game. Great comeback and hopefully that can provide us with a boost for the final game.
Some sexy football on show there. I was impressed by Kporha, you can see why he is getting first team action. Don't see Wheatley making it at the top level...lack of a quality centre forward just as evident at this tournament as in the Under-21's despite all the goals crashing in!
The commentator mentioned at the start that the German 10 who scored the first goal said before the game that there was no way Germany wouldn't win. When you consider that most of Geramny's Euro and World Cup winning side were playing and England being totally decimated that arrogance might not have been misplaced so a great fight back from the side. It's just a shame we didn't get the winner as the group situation still favours Germany to progress along with Holland, it also would've been great to dump out the cocky German side.
thinking it's an individual issue is a losing game. You'll be asking for Kporha on 60 minutes, v Netherlands, if things aren't changed tactically. Just as Rowe looked exposed and 'needed to come off' in the first game.
Well lads, kudos for the come back. From my POV it's due arrogance, goaly blunders and lay back after the 4 goal lead. They couldn't find a way to slow England down in their furious 15 minutes. I am quite happy with the first 50 minutes though and I love the kinda unpredictability of these youth teams.
I don't think it's an individual issue at all. Struggles defending transitions is a problem across every England age group atm so to try and mitigate that you want to play the players who are best at covering big spaces. Not that the issue won't still be there in some form with the changes.
He has talent but not very prolific for Chelsea. Very young for this level though...almost as young as Mfuni
but my point is that Rowe got shredded in transition all the time he was on the pitch v Norway too. Which is why he was subbed. So did Murray-Campbell tbh!
Not anywhere near as much as Kporha imo, although granted the latter was facing a higher quality of opposition. The system means they're inevitably both going to have a tough time but Rowe is better 1v1 and stronger in 50/50s imo. Kporha wasn't just struggling in transition, he was getting twisted quite badly by that German LW in 1v1s. His miss-timed challenge that led to that 5th German goal was also a big error too. We'll have to agree to disagree on Murray-Campbell, I thought he was decent first game.
Don’t think we have had any official updates on Mikey Moore? Pretty poor considering the way he went off and the time that has since elapsed.
Nothing official, but LilyWhite Rose who's very reliable said on twitter said it's not serious, and he should be back soon. Not sure that means for this tournament though!
Moore on the bench. Josh King suspended. Not ideal to only have two CM’s in what I assume will be hot weather.
