Lewis-Skelly starting for Arsenal U21’s tonight. We should not be over promoting players if it means the likes of Lewis-Skelly are then being dropped.

England U19 results under Will Antwi: D 1-1 vs. Morrocco L 2-3 vs. USA (a group of mainly U18s) D 2-2 vs. Italy D 1-1 vs. Croatia L 2-3 vs. Germany L 1-2 vs. Portugal Only six games in but I was very sceptical of Antwi when he got the job and I still am now, I don't think he's up to it. This is an incredibly exciting group and it would be an absolute killer if we don't qualify for this Euros, especially given it'd be three tournaments in a row we've missed.
Thought it was this month but it's next. We've got Lithuania, Bulgaria and Belgium so we should get to the elite round at least.
Ethan Nwaneri was on the scoresheet for our #YoungLions in a narrow defeat to Portugal in Marbella this evening. Here's the report 👇— England (@England) October 9, 2024
Not the best although it's worth pointing out that England made 10 substitutes in yesterdays game so it's hard to read too much into narrow defeats under those conditions.
It is but we were also 0-2 down at half-time. I think there was enough cause for scepticism from his time with the U15s too. I also watched the Morocco game and it was one of the worst England youth performances I've seen. Don't get me wrong I very much hope he makes me eat my words but this is such a good group and given they had to spend their first two competitive tournaments playing under Ryan Garry they've already been fairly wasted.
I agree that we need to see a minimum of u20 World Cup qualification. At the u17 Euros in the summer players from this squad thrashed France, beat Spain 3-1 and went out well against the run of play against the eventual champions Italy. The quality in the squad is undoubtedly there when Ty Dibling isn't guaranteed to start.
