Quite encouraging that we already have a good few options in this age group and the U18’s that are already pretty solid senior squad options (or better) for their clubs.

From this most recently picked squad Dibling, Amo-Ameyaw, Nwaneri, Lewis-Skelly, Acheampong, Mikey Moore and Kaden Young have all have got playing time so far this season. Feels like most of them will get a pretty decent amount of playing time with their club schedules. Add in Archie Gray and Lewis Miley and this age group plus a few of the promoted 2007’s. It is looking pretty strong. A real shame Jayden Danns got injured because he really completes the quality of this squad.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...an-City-Battle-Etihad-SAMI-MOKBEL-COLUMN.html Lewis-Skelly's baptism of fire Arsenal rookie Myles Lewis-Skelly has had quite a week. Booked at Manchester City for instructing goalkeeper David Raya to time waste before being substituted on in the closing stages to make his senior debut was a baptism of fire. Then, on Wednesday night, he was handed his full debut in the Carabao Cup win over Bolton. And today, Mail Sport can disclose the details of a thorough scouting report from a rival Premier League side on Lewis-Skelly from a match against Reading Under-21s from September 2023. ‘He was positioned on the left side of central midfield in a 4-4-2 but moved central regularly,’ the report read. ‘Left-footed. He is 16, so plenty of physical development to follow. Maybe 5ft 10in. Relaxed on the ball. Has a swagger but can do far more without the ball. Looks to have an excellent football brain and can spot a forward pass. Dibling in line for England promotion Southampton youngster Tyler Dibling is pushing for a promotion at England junior level. The 18-year-old has been one of the bright sparks of the Saints’ return to the Premier League, featuring in all five of Russell Martin side’s five games so far - two of those have been starts. And the teenager's beginning to life in the top-flight has impressed staff at England’s St George’s Park base. Dibling has made one appearance for the England Under-19s so far, but is expected to move up the age groups - to either the U20s or U21s - this season if he continues with his promise development. The likes of Jude Bellingham, Raheem Sterling and Jadon Sancho have all been fast-tracked through the FA’s system in previous years and Dibling is a player creating excitement.
Nwaneri highlights against Leicester city is just wonderful. I love how Arteta is integrating him into the team. Once he is settled, he will be a good backup for Odegaard. Moore is very much looking the level. Would be very interesting to see how he looks in a full-strength, on-song Spurs side.

NEW: Jayden Danns has just taken a big step in his recovery after long-term back injury https://t.co/p3il7sYXUE— This Is Anfield (@thisisanfield) October 3, 2024
The Squad Goalkeepers: Ted Curd (Hampton & Richmond Borough, loan from Chelsea), Finlay Herrick (West Ham United), Matthew Young (Salford City, loan from Sunderland) Defenders: Josh Acheampong (Chelsea), Leo Black (Tottenham Hotspur), Joe Johnson (Luton Town), Jayden Meghoma (Brentford), Stephen Mfuni (Manchester City), Harrison Murray-Campbell (Chelsea), Amara Nallo (Liverpool), Triston Rowe (Aston Villa) Midfielders: Tyler Dibling (Southampton), Kiano Dyer (Chelsea), Josh King (Fulham), Ethan Nwaneri (Arsenal), Lewis Orford (West Ham United), Reiss Russell-Denny (Chelsea) Forwards: Samuel Amo-Ameyaw (Southampton), Mikey Moore (Tottenham Hotspur), Joel Ndala (PSV Eindhoven) Ethan Wheatley (Manchester United), Lennon Wheeldon (Derby County), Kadan Young (Aston Villa)
Good to see Ndala back in although looking at his PSV career so far he hasn't made an impact early on, being used as a sub in their second team so far.
Stephen Mfuni playing 2 years up in the u19s must be rare? Still surprises me that Rigg can’t make this squad, no MLS either.
This must be one of the squads with the most distance between players experiences in a while. Dibling is now a regular Pl starter and then there sevreal with no senior experience even on a bench and also Curd playing in the National League south.
Curd is a goalkeeper though, they have to go further down the leagues as young players because they only play one position in which injuries are rare. It's the only way guarantee game time. All the keepers in the current England squad came up through a similar route.
I know but it’s a big contrast in starting matches in front of many thousands and millions on Tv and youth football and semi pro matches,
Lewis-Skelly is a weird one. Why isn’t he in there? Especially with his versatility. Mfuni should be playing with the talented U17 squad. He’s obviously talented but it seems strange to promote him this high at this point. I know he’s already done the U17’s but U19’s isn’t always the highest quality level out of the age groups.
Quite a few surprising omissions from some of these squads. MLS, Tyrique George, Ishe Samuels-Smith and Baylee Dipepa are all names you'd expect to see included in their age groups. Maybe Gomes Rodrigues too. Don't know the reasoning but I don't think it's fitness related, they've all played very recently.
