The step up to the u23s has really accelerated Teden Mengi's development. At times in the u18s he relied too much on his pace & strength to get him out of difficult situations but the step up to u23s looks to be really improving his reading of the game, positioning & heading— jb8521 (@jb_8521) October 29, 2019
Thanks mate. That is good to hear. Whenever I see him I do like him. United do seem to be getting talented players into the u23s from the 18s earlier now.
Hopefully they've figured out the player flow. Cause so many 96-99s were there who had no future at United or even on being sold for profit. Just looking at the top sides now and you do struggle to see as many older millstones in their U23 squads in the future. That's be the biggest easy chance clubs could make in the future. If there's no Matt Willlock's or Anthony Georgiou's hanging around for years. Will believe it when I see it though.
Congratulations to @JayStansfield1 for his England U18 call up! So proud and know he will look as good in an England shirt as his Dad did! #EnglandFootball #thefuturesbright #proud #football #stanno #FulhamFC #not17yet #lisawillbeproud #jeffstelling pic.twitter.com/ZSkb8SAR3Q— Adam Stansfield foundation (@as9foundation) November 10, 2019
On McAtee from the other thread - It's just a competitive age group and if you think about it, not many of the players he is competing with are still playing U18 football. Sure it won't be long before things fall his way and he's in a squad at some point though. Mark Helm at United is in a similar position. But it's probably a good sign that we can look around and there's good uncapped players at every age. Sammy Robinson is a weird one in this regard, came out of nowhere to start the U17 Euro games and then is now back out of things. Think he's injured now, but definitely wasn't for the September games. Also, when watching the U17 WC and looking at other countries, some of them are very reliant on bumping players up in age. Probably leads to them having stronger teams but they end up relying on a much smaller base of players. Has it's benefits, but I think it's more promising if you're in a position like England + France, where it's not necessary.
What has happened with Ben knight? he seems to have dropped back in pecking order a couple of squads ago
Talking about McAtee the other day & now he's been called up to replace Carvalho. Mengi also in for Walcott.

What a goal by Azeez! How we haven’t managed to win this game is a mystery tbh. Pretty much dominated the game but been very sloppy. The Norwegian third goal pretty much sums up the sloppy passing at times today.
