The U18s and U19 age groups are tricky because you have players in the squads playing at 3 different levels U18 PL, PL2, and First team. The coaches have to factor in the level that at each player is playing at when pick the squad. Someone like Matty Warhurst has very little experience above u18 (but his record is terrific) whereas Danns has played a little more PL2 and as you say scored and featured in the first team.
Funny thing youth football. I watched Dans play against Man City U18 a few months back, barely had a kick, very quiet game that would not have got him in the England squad. Roll on a few months he’s banging in first team goals and captain of his country. Opportunity can change everything so quickly. Fair play to the kid, when opportunity came his way he grabbed it

What a story..Massive congratulations #ajaymatthews who made his hometown club @Boro @SkyBetChamp debut last night after coming on against @LUFC where his dad (our owner) Lee Matthews started his football career and made his @premierleague debut. With the way Liverpool’s attacking players are finishing it might give Danns a chance to impress towards the end of this season (hopefully tonight). The forwards get numerous opportunities. I think he could take it if given the chance.

I honestly can't think of another case like this, at least not with such a highly-rated player. He's basically spent an entire season just trialling at different clubs across the country, it's really weird.
Klopp choosing to make two like-for-like (or maybe more accurately defensive because Gomez came on for Trent) changes at full back in a must win game at 2-0 down is one of the oddest substitutions I've ever seen. He really needed to make a last throw of the dice bringing on Danns as an extra attacker.
Not exactly a similar case but it made me think of Bobby Duncan who seemed to change clubs every season. He won 39 youth caps for England and is now without a club age 22.
He went a year without playing to force a move to Liverpool, then his agent threw a tantrum (presumably on the players guidance) about him being kept against his will at Liverpool after a year there. Was a very odd situation and series of moves. The strange thing was his family was apparently well connected to the football world so you'd have expected him to have a much more professional agent, better advice, and more grounded expectations than he seemingly had, which ultimately seems like it may have cost him a career in the sport.
🚨⚪️ Tottenham are currently leading the race to sign 2006 born talented midfielder Dan Rigge from West Ham.There are four clubs in the race, Rigge’s happy at West Ham after positive season — but several clubs are prepared to test the water in the next weeks. pic.twitter.com/DB7VxCur8W— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) April 27, 2024
What are the names in the list? A lad called Aidan Daush has made two sub appearances for Coventry this week so I think that's a 6th. He's a England-USA dual national, uncapped by either.
