It's been suggested on the Brighton and Hove Albion forum North Stand Chat that Howell has remained with Albion and will be in the squad again for the Spurs match on Sunday.
It's quite ridiculous to have picked Howell tbh. Even if the idea is for him to join up for a potential semi-final it's a stupid idea when we're in such a hard group. There are multiple players who could've been called into the team (particularly in midfield) who could've made a big impact.
Sounds like a waste of time. The FA have done this before but it’s not worth it. Maybe plans did change and they thought he would be available until they delayed him or even asked him back from training.
the logistics of hosting an 8 team, 2 week long tournament in 4 stadiums, needs more than 2 months notice
If Argentina can step in with just over a months notice to take over the 24 team under 20 World Cup it seems unlikely it’s logistically especially challenging to arrange an 8 team youth team tournament. Particularly given countries are already used to hosting 4 teams in the qualifying round. I mean I’d get that for senior level but if you play an off season youth tournament it seems implausible that the most the countries who usually qualify for these 8 team tournaments wouldn't be able to scale up to accommodate 2 extra stadiums, and a few extra training facilities for a off season tournament. A lot of the stadiums that get used in the small hosts are often worse than a lot of non-league sides in the first place so it’s not like the selection criteria is especially rigid.
BBC putting the effort in with one of the Match of the Day commentators on commentary duty, Draw for the U17 World Cup is on Sunday I’ve just seen.
It’s been a very stereotypical England performance in terms of complete inability to keep the ball under pressure, constantly losing it when it’s played in midfield and relying on lumping it forward. Not overly surprising given the gaping chasm that appeared in the midfield last game, really look a midfielder short.
Excellent breakaway goal. Good work from Benamar who’s been a very useful addition to the side to say he only came in last minute, and another excellent finish from Rodriguez who looks the best finisher we’ve had at this level for a while, his rawness to be expected given he was playing Sunday league until 2022.
Dowman is clearly a wonderful technical talent but you can see he’s still awfully raw in a lot of ways, especially in his decision making and realistically a pretty long way from making any waves in senior level football. Not at all surprising for someone who’s 15 but I think some tempering of the expectation I see for him is needed.
We just don’t seem to play as a team, Italy always looking for options but our players seem to try to do too much with the ball. When the left back gets the ball and looks to cross it is when we look more likely to score. The Liverpool lad just seems to run and run with the ball, got to get his head up and pass.
