Belgium confirmed out as they finished as the worse second place finishers. They're squad is really strong, so big shock.

Is that the second straight red Rigg has got for England in the past couple of years?

Mikey Moore, made his injury comeback yesterday and got 2 assists against Southampton U18, so looks like he just missed out on this squad recovery wise.

Definitely the most exciting England youth player in terms of skill and flair since Sancho.

I'm sure its been said before but his dribbling and close control reminds me a little of Kvaratskhelia from Napoli.

Certainly seems to have something about him, will be interesting to see if he makes the squad when Mheuka is back. Pretty strong competition up front with Luca Fletcher and Jay Robinson being squad regulars.

A quick scan would suggest he'd be our first tournament call up for a outfield player at a club below the championship since 2011.

You would expect ( even though I could be wrong ) that he would trump other options since he’s playing regularly in league one ( and scoring a cracker will help ) over those playing in U18 or the other under age leagues?

Powell and Clayton from Crewe (and they had a goalkeeper in Owen Garratt too). Worth noting that's only U17s.

Both big talents whose careers were unfortunately wrecked by injury problems, as happens to so many

Bundesliga clubs have been scouting Douglass Lukjanciks. He has a Latvian passport so could move despite being under the age of 18. Assume this is a decent year group for goalkeepers as he didn't make the most recent squad.

Does anyone know if Shim Mheuka will be back in time for the tournament?

I believe 13 (65%) are from England, half a dozen are actually from Wales and Josh Gentles is from Scotland...

Would mean Manchester City have 80% of the starting defence at this age group with only Newcastle right back Shahar not at that club. Mfuni & Noble (and attacker Mukasa) just started for the City team that reached the FA Youth Cup final. Spike Brits & Luca Fletcher were on the bench.

I was going to make the point about whether he'd be released but just realised EFL regular season finishes at the start of May and Sunderland won't make the play offs. Dipepa might end up relegated but that will not impact selection either.

Premier League ends the day before U17 tournament starts.

Wow! I don't recall a group like that in any competition we've been in at any level before?

A ridiculous unlikely group, particularly given the shock fails to qualify of a few heavyweights already! The only 4 teams at the tournament to have won a under 17 Euros all in the same group!

And the likely reward for the runners up for making it out is probably going to be Italy in the next round.

Ridiculous draw. At least we are guaranteed three high level games.
